I have a new Extensa 4620Z with built in Acer crystal eye webcam. We can turn it on and take pictures with it of ourselves. There are no instructions on how to use it as a webcam while chatting with friends. Can anyone explain how to do this?
I tried to enter this product model below and it says it is not a valid product. What did I buy? This is the name on the computer, not what I entered below...I just needed to get the question to go through.
I have figured out how to take a picture. But I'd like to take video. How?

Re: crystal eye webcam how to use
Windows Movie Maker (free with Windows XP) will allow you to make video movies with your webcam. Instant messenger programs (free) like Skype, AIM, Yahoo Messenger, etc. will allow you to sent the webcam video to other users.

Hallow Dear, First I would like to advice you to remove the webcam driver & application completely from add/removes program in control panel. And make sure after you reboot our PC let the webcam detected by windows as unknown device. Use link below & Select the EXACT WEBCAM DRIVER THAT YOU HAVE; under Driver & Utilities, according to your OS. Then you will get connect to download automatically. Install properly & reboot once. *** If you are using VISTA*** Please ensure that VISTA SP1 is installed on your system prior to installing these drivers! Driver incompatibilities on a system without VISTA SP1 might affect usability. http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/ex_4620.html Thank you & Best Regards Dinu….
I had the same problem with the Extensa 5420-5687 as well, I went to the device manager and found my crystal eye webcam (there was a yellow exclaimation point on it) I tried to update the driver software by having it search automatically for the software, but it just said that it was up to date...that still didnt fix my problem. So i tried browsing my computer for the driver. I picked "let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer" I then clicked on "Acer crystal eye webcam" then i hit next, it then installed the updated driver. After that my webcam worked again!
Download the latest driver for the crystal eye webcam from the acer site, install the driver (will not work yet) then go to device manager and image devices, right click and scan for new hardware devices and then widnows vista will pop up saying installing the cam. Thats it. Worked for me.
hi, if its a built in cam , then the driver disk will take care nof it, now for chatting, u just need to open the chat applet, there you can find or go to "My Web Cam" that doed not need any software for video chat, most of the chatt applets are smart to locate your system web cam.. let me know
