I'm not aware of any reset that can be done without the Rover TextBook. If you simply want to clear the stored data, trouble codes, etc thats pretty simple. -engine off, remove negative lead from the battery (single black cable). I usually wrap this with a rubber glove or a rubber drawer toolbox liner, something rubber any way just to be on the safe side and then tuck somewhere out of the way so it doesn't springback and make unwanted contact with anything. Once your negative lead is removed many stored items will be cleared from memory. Let Rover sit with cable off for an hour or so. This will also discharge the stored power within the BECM and the ECM (Rovers brain). At this point everything that can be cleared in your garage has been cleared. There are a couple systems that I believe are not affected such as ABS and the EAS system. If you are having airshock issues this will not reset the EAS faults. Hope this helps.

How to reset Security system on Dodge Durango 2002

Most computers ECU on cars have a battery backup. A factory system is tied together and a system wide reset may do it. Generally you remove the positive post from the battery (like it's a bead battery) then turn on the headlights for 10-15 min to draw any power out of the computer back up system. Turn off lights, hook up battery. Will definitely reset the ECU,, should do the factory alarm to.

The only reset I know of on OBD-1 systems (like yours) is to disconnect battery for a couple of minutes. Take off the negative cable for a few minutes.

Check eingen light is on and is code P1196 wath code is this ?

Hi Joe, The fault code is related to the number 2 oxygen sensor giving a slow signal during warm up. Have another scan carried out to determine if the signals from the temperature sender unit is good and also replace the air filter. Regards John

The ESP light on my AudiA3 stays on

The ESP system means the Electronic Stability Program. If the ESP lights on the dashboard permanently the ESP system is faulty.
You should access the ESP Electronic Control Unit (ECU) memory for pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car. Then you will be full informed about bad pieces (e.g.: brake pedal switch, front right wheel abs sensor interrupted, ...). After bad pieces replacement you will be able to erase all faults memored by ESP ECU, in other words reset the ESP system and turn off the warning lamp on dashboard.

Check & replace if necessary the brake pedal switch placed above pedals on the support.

If the problem still occurs you should access the ABS & ESP ECU (Electronic Control Unit) using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, in order to pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) memored.
Then you will be able to replace bad piece(s) and fix the problem by erasing all DTC stocked inside ABS & ESP ECU, and reset it.
