Question about Acer (91.37H37.001) Internal DVD Drive
It is not recognizing the dvd/cd's, so I guess it is broke. I want to buy a new one, but can't find an internal cd/dwd burner for the computer, since Aspire 1690 is out of the market. Can I buy another brand which will work, and any suggestion for which DVD/CD-rom I should choose?
My cd/dvd rom dont work coz the drive has change to another one.I think take windows xp/vista/7/8 with an usb and inslat it. When windows finished installing try to format it because the dvd and cd rom are fixed . Thnx

If there is not even light and no power, that can be the power connection to dvd.
If instead the DVD is not reading disks, and when you insert disk you hear a whirring noise, that is a dirty or defective lens.
Try repairing power plug or lens wirth a cleaner DVD. If that does not work you will need to replace the DVD drive, that is not an expensive part.

You may need to reinstall the drivers. Open your Control Panel, the double-click on the "Device Manager. In the Device Manager window, look for "DVD/CDROM Drives" (or similar) and click on the little box to the left to view your DVD/CD drive.
Right-click on the drive, and select "Properties." Another window will open, containing several tabs. Click on the "Driver" tab, then click on "Update Driver." You will be given the choice to have Windows "Search automatically" for the driver, or "Browse my computer.."
If you "Search automatically..." Windows will search the Internet for the mlost recent driver, and if it is able to locate one, ask you if you want to Install. Clicking on "Browse my computer" will cause Windows to search your hard drive for the correct driver.
As a last resort, if you received a CD/DVD with your Acer, and you can get a hold of an external CD/DVD drive to connect (via one of the USB ports) you can have Windows search the original software disk and load the driver from that.
Hope this helps :)
