Constant error messages from hp deskjet2400

I recently installed an hp deskjet 2400 on my laptop .when i unplugg the usb cable i get this constant error message saying printer cartrages unavalibe printing in backup mode and i cant stop it from poping up hoow do i disable the message

From the forum this is in, I will assume that you are running Win2k3EE on your laptop. Your issue might be a compatability issue with the print drivers. HP is notorious for making bad print drivers (ever since their aquisition of Compaq...before that, they did rock-solid work IMHO). For this printer, you may want to 1) uninstall the printer and use the Windows printer install wizard, as opposed to the HP installer, or 2) see if HP does offer a Server 2003 specific driver. HP commonly includes a bunch of "junk" in their Deskjet print drivers because those printers are targeted to individual home users who will use XP or Vista. Before we conclude that cable is faulty, we have few things that need to be checked.

  • In the device manager check for "Other Devices" and expand it, you may see an device with exclamation sign on it. Right click and uninstall the device.
  • Disconnect the printer USB and reconnect it back.
  • Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver.
Note: When you connect the USB cable to the printer, and then to the computer, Windows 7 activates Windows Update. Windows Update searches online for the most recent product driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more recent than the driver stored in Windows 7, the computer downloads and installs the updated driver.The Windows Update process takes place automatically. Therefore, you might not notice that the process is in progress.
If you dont see any notification on connecting the printer, try plugging to different USB port.
If non if these works, replace the cable.

I have a Dell Dim 2400 and no connection with HP Deskjet 3070A.


Charles, has this combination worked previously, have you been able to print from your Dell Dimension 2400 to your HP Deskjet 3070A successfully?

If the answer to the above is Yes, then if you believe that the printer is still working correctly and you can test this with a different computer able to print to it, you should consider uninstalling and re-installing the HP software and device drivers for this printer.

If you have not printed to this printer successfully previously, have you tested the printer with a different computer and proven it is still working fine?

If the printer works fine to a different computer then providing you are using the same USB cable to connect to your Dell 2400, the problem needs to be narrowed down further.

Check that you can plus other USB devices into the port on the Dell used for the HP printer - if these work, then your USB port is good - if not, try another port if you have one.

If your USB hardware is good, then again you are left with the need to uninstall and re-install the HP software and device drivers - it may be worth trying to download the latest version of such software if available. HP tend to update their All-in-One software on a regular basis.

I have used the printer (hp deskjet f4180) for over a year now. but recently when I connect it to my pc (hp windows vita), i get an error message that the usb fevice is not recognised. I have tried to...


If I am right, the error message should be "USB Device is not recognized...." not "Fevice" :-). This happens with most usb devices when there's connection problem, i.e. the USB cables or the USB Ports or the USB interfaces.
First of all try the printer with the same cable on another machine to make sure it works, if it doesn't work, then you'll need to replace the USB cable or try with another cable.

You can also try cleaning he USB Ports and the cables usb jack with a brush dampen with alcohol. Also clean the usb ports on the computer with the same materials mentioned.

These will definitely help you find out the culprit and take the necessary actions, like replacing or switching the usb port.
To simply find out if it's the computer or the printer or the cable, try the printer on another computer.
Note: If it's not recognized once it's connected, then the issue is not with the drivers... If you need further help, let me know.

My HP Deskjet F380 has the latest printing software installed; it spools and is attached to my laptop in the correct USB port; but it doesn't print. The message is "no connection." It printed...


Verify that the USB connection is fully inserted in the back of the printer itself. If all is well there, try to think if you've run any updates on your laptop recently, or installed any new software that could be conflicting. If yes, try removing the new software or recent updates, and try a test print. If this still does not work, try disconnecting the printer, powering down your machine, starting it back up and then reconnecting the printer to the USB port. Sometimes you have have a glitch in the USB port that causes your computer to stop recognizing a device seemingly out of nowhere. If none of the above seems to help, it might be as simple as a USB cable that's become faulty. Hope this helps!

Recently I bought an hp deskjet 2460, and when I Opened the pack I founded in the cd the software was to Hp deskjet 2400, What can I do to have the correct software


Load the 2400 cd and then update online.
OR
Grab the latest software package for the 2460. Here

The HP deskjet number is a series number.
Meaning this software will usually work on 2400 series printers.
HP 2410, HP 2420 HP 2430 HP 2460 etc.

On my hp deskjet f380 all in one message no hp devices have been detected. HP solution will close now


*** UNPLUG THE USB CABLE FIRST*********

Insert the disk
click on add a device options
follow the instructions and when instructed connect the USB cable and complete the installation and it will go fine

Uninstall the printer driver from Device Manager, then scan for hardware changes and install the printer driver when it detects the printer...All the best

Need to use HP Deskjet5550 to print off laptop


Since Hp have Vista driver to your printer...to install the driver...do not plug the printer...install the driver that you downloaded (run the program as Administrator)..after you install, if the installation ask for restart..restart your computer...after restart and the whole system finish his task on loading driver and dll ..then plug in your printer...it will pop up message found new hardware. click next and choose automatic find the driver.

what Cable are you using to connect?
USB a and b?
parallel port to USB? if this you need to download the driver too.
