I have an model MDB6100, 6160 that won't start. The "normal wash", "heated dry", and "clean" lights are flashing but no matter what button I push, nothing changes.

SOURCE: The heated dry and clean lights flash together

I had this same problem. I read on another blog that the manual recommends that you turn the power off to dishwasher. When you turn the washer back on, the lights still flash but then push the off button. The lights stopped flashing.

SOURCE: Blinking "Normal" light on a Maytag model

Hi

Open the door. Within 3 seconds press the following sequence --Try pressing normal wash, heated dry, normal wash, heated dry, normal wash, heated dry three times within 6 seconds and then press cancel to reset the dishwasher. If that doesn't help then try pressing Saini Rinse, Heated Dry, Saini Rinse, Heated Dry, Saini Rinse, Heated Dry or Saini Rinse, Air Dry, Saini Rinse, Air Dry, Saini Rinse, Air Dry 3 times in 6 seconds and then the Cancel Button. Close the door and press Cancel.
Blinking lights would stop and should be able to use your dishwasher normally. If the light is still blinking try and reset the power to the dishwasher and try again. If still the light is blinking then check for the connections on the keypad, it may be due to moisture or shorted connections on keypad.

Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by saying the "2" in the display when you press cancel is normal. If you allow it to complete it should initiate the drain before you press cancel the second time.

Initially It sound's like a fill valve or stuck float assembly, though there are many possible scenarios that can include a heating element or a control board, so I'll need to clarify the unit will indeed complete the cancel if you do not push it the second time and if it does complete the cancel will it then in turn start a new cycle ?

Let me know what you find or if you can add any further details and I'll try to help moving forward any way I can. Good luck.

Thanks for visiting FixYa.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

The clean button blinks, yet it won't start?

I had the same flashing light problem first the normal wash flashing light then the others. I tried shuting of the breakers but nothing. I tried resetting the panel by pushing normal wash and heated dry simultaneously and nothing. So I took the six screws holding the front panel out and unplugged the ribbon type wires and plug and unplugged it several times to help make a better contact and I was able to get it to work right away. This may not work for all but I worked for me. It is very easy to do and it's worth a try if you're having the same problem. It took me less then 10 minutes. I had the problem for several days and could not use the dishwasher not mater what tried until I did what I described above. Now I have to see how long it lasts.

Why are lights flashing on my dishwasher's control panel?

There is a button configuration that you can press to make the unit reset on some you would close the door and push normal wash heated dry then normal wash then heated dry on others it would the econo wash button then heated dry then the econo/ heated dry this pattern starts the unit and then puts it into the drain cycle and resets the control which allows you to start washing again. If you can name off all the buttons you have I can tell you exactly which ones to perform this reset in the unit. I await your reply
Rick
p.s this also happens on whirlpool models as well right after the warranty runs out so you end up paying the high service charge for a tech to walk in you door push a few buttons then collect a fee over 169.00 which is ridiculous.

I can't get the control panel to reset. The wash cycle light comes on but it just beeps and the dishwasher won't start. I press the start button and it stops beeping for a minute but it still...

II might need the actual model number. However, you can go to page 9 on this manual and check if the flashing options can fix the problem. I am assuming you have already tried to turn the power off and back on.

The ohter thing to try is the reset sequence. Within 6-7 secs press High Temp/ Heat Dry/ High Temp/ Heat Dry/ High Temp/ Heat Dry. All lights should light up, press Start button to exit.

The "clean" light is flashing

Hi

If clean light is blinking then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Clean light flashes

I have found 2 possible solutions for you to try on your washer. It looks like there are good results on each of the sequences listed so you may try both to see what one works for you.

1) Press normal wash and heated dry one after the other about 5 times. All lights on panel will light.Wait until all lights go out and it resets itself. It will go into a mode on it's own. Then press cancel and set your options as you normally would and press start

On the hidden button models this seems to work, push these buttons in this order:
Heated Dry, Hi Temp Wash, Heated Dry, Hi Temp Wash, close the door, Start, open the door, Cancel 2x

Clean light keeps blinking and I can't start a new cycle

That is a comon problem with that model. It is not sensing a temperature change in the water.

Push i believe it is heated dry and sani rinse going back and fourth between the two to clear the code and see if you can get it to complete a cycle. If it doesnt call sears and schedule service there is a service flash repair that should not cost you anything to repair the unit.

Whirlpool 24 in. DU1055XTP Built-in Dishwasher

I don't know if your dishwasher is the same as mine, but this solution may be what you need. For electronic panel dishwashers made by whirlpool (mine is a whirlpool but with a kenmore name on it), some of them can be reset by pushing in sequence the Heated-Dry button followed by the Normal-Wash button, several times in a row. that is... Push Heated-Dry, then Normal-Wash, Then Heated-Dry, then Normal-Wash... Repeat until all lights light up. When all lights light up you can stop. The washer will then take 5-10 minutes to go through a diagnostics cycle, which is about 18-25 steps or so. You can bypass one step at a time by pushing the STart button. This may not apply to your washer, but is pure gold if it does. Good Luck!
