Replace headlights on pontaic grand am

open the hood ,,look where the back of the head light is. there are wires .there is a light socket .it should have three wires .turn the light socket either to the right or left genly pull the socket out of the light assembly ,un plug the wires from the bulb ,? be care full when you take the new light bulb out of the wrapper .,do not touch the clear part of the bulb ,you can use a paper towel or tissue to hold it until you are ready to place it in the light assembly .if you do end up touching the bulb clean it with rubbing alchol ,,,the reason not to touch the bulb with youre fingers is that the oil from youre skin will not get on the bulb..and that bulb will lats about a week and burn out .because th oil from youre fingers traps the heat in and the light heats up to much .if you need the whole light changed there screws holding the light on .

I have a problem with my kitchen's recessed lighting. For some reason, the six bulbs will go out during the evening hours, then come back on. There is no pattern, with one, two, three or four of them out...

It sounds as if you may have higher wattage bulbs and/or the wrong type of bulb installed in the can fixtures than the recessed cans are rated for.

When the wattage of the bulbs is higher than the rating of the fixture, and/or the wrong bulbs are being used, the recessed can's thermal overload device will shut off the light, to prevent damage and a possible fire situation.

It is unlikely that you've got a faulty dimmer, since you state that not all of the lights go off at once, thus it can be narrowed down to each can and thus the thermal overload being the culprit.

I would suggest you look inside the recessed can light fixture and determine what the maximum wattage bulb you can use, (60, 75, 90 watts, etc.) and use the next lower wattage bulb instead. I also install only Halogen bulbs in recessed cans, (they have a flat lens vs. a rounded bulb lens area like PAR type bulbs). Halogen bulbs are also the most efficient incandesent bulb that provides the whitest light possible and directs more light (and thus heat) downward away from the recessed can.

I avoid using a standard light bulb or PAR type bulbs in any recessed can fixtures as they tend to heat up quite a bit and cause the thermal protection to trip frequently.

As a Master Electrician that has installed literally thousands of recessed fixtures and dimmers, I can say that my customers prefer the Halogen light over standard bulbs and they last longer too.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Bulb wont come out of fitting

Do you have a NEW bulb? The bulb assy 'twists' out (counterclockwise) and a new bulb 'twists' in (clockwise). Each bulb has a connector to it. Remove the connector, twist out the old bulb, twist in the new one, and reconnect the connector.25d2850.jpg

Replacing old light switch, only use copper wires?

First, aluminum wire is rarely used anymore, in residential. It's pretty costly to rewire the entire house and you would have to bring it up to the latest codes and have inspections . Usually the single pole switch is used to break the circuit on the "Hot" leg only and the neutral is usually straight wired to the load (Bulb). Based on your description, I would think it's the socket. If it was the switch, it would have sparks or something, not the bulb/ socket. You may have "Blown" the connection in the socket. Kill the breaker and check it.

Hope this helps.

Burnt bulb in GE JE1590sc001 convection microwave

You can locate it by looking inside the cavity for an area that is perforated.
If this area is not a panel that can be removed, replacing it may (often) require removing a few sheet metal screws along the rear edge of the unit; rarely is the housing held on with more than that.
With the screws removed, lift up on the rear edge and pull toward the back.

DO NOT LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN!

Also, because there are components that may keep a charge (capacitors) for hours, I would recommend letting it sit unplugged overnight before removing the housing.

The bulb may be either a cylindrical type such as many sewing machines use or a smaller version of a standard bulb.
Neither of which anyone ever has at home, of course.

Any of the large 'home improvement' stores should have these 'made in China' bulbs at an inflated price.

Sharp R-1500 range lights

Are any other bulbs in the home going out prematurely? If so, I would check the actual voltage of your power outlets. If not, the bulbs may be getting grease or debris on them from stovetop cooking. This can cause hot psots and premature failure. I recommend wiping them clean with alcohol on a cloth before installing them. I recommend that folks always have their hood fan on when cooking on the stovetop. Also, you might check with a local home center (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) to see if they have some high-quality (non-Chinese) substitutes.
