Re: tv wont stay on channel

Same thing: tv self powered on, channels and volume went randomly up and down. The problem was due to bad contacts in front buttons (not the infrared controler) and solved by simply shaking and releasing the pression on the front buttons. Thanks to joshv

Re: tv wont stay on channel

This TV actually has bad buttons I've seen many of them, usually those switches never go bad but on this tv they do. The easiest thing to do is remove them, and use the remote, who uses those buttons anyway. You can slide out the circuit board and you will see the small switches in front if you can solder just remove remove them if not you can cut them out just be careful none of the pins remaining in the board are touching one another.

Channel 2 goes fuzzy same time each day

This may be an issue with the broadcast. As all other channels are fine its not the tuner or TV. The broadcasters may be doing work on this channel at the same time every day.

I would advise contacting the people who broadcast TV in your area

My cat jumped on my remote & now my tv only shows a few channels

Go into the menu and look for a "program mode" or "auto program" something to that effect.

If your cat did what I think it did, its pretty funny coincidence.

Sharp 17" TV

It's the Closed Captioning function I think. I've had the problem with my Sharp TV (and other TV's that have Closed Captioning function). Look at the menu or the manual to see how to turn off Closed Captioning. It might be marked as "CC".

Picture flips from color to black and white continuously

I believe your set has a loose conection that needs to be resoldered ,every time you hit it reacts and that is good, you need to use a wooden or rubber handle to tap in the main board, around the tuner and in different areas until it reacts,be attentive when it does so you can flip the board and resoldered the area that made it react, once the problem is corrected you need to resoldered any other overheated areas and there should be a few in your set, check the grounds in the tuner(where the coax goes in the inside,is a silver box),the horizontal driver transformer and output transformer.Be careful while you do this and stay away from the thick red wire going to the back of the picture tube specially when the set is on. Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

Remote not working correctly

It all depends on what and how the cable box is connected . Do you have an outside or inside antenna connected? If you have a cable box , why would you want to go to another station on your tv? Does the cable box have an rf output that connects to the tv through he antenna input on the back of the set? If so the tv should stay on a station to recive the stations thru the cable box. Didnt the cable tech explain how to use the system?? If you dont understand how to use the cable you should, for sure call the companey, and see if they can explain how they hooked up your sysytem as theres many many ways to do this. If you have the owners manual what im about to explain is in there too. On the tv remote theres a button called menu, press it once. Use the up and down arrows to scroon down and highlight the setup . press the ok or enter buttonpress the right language, then search for channels. When this is over then exit out of the menu, and try switching channels. If you still dont have any channels you gonna have to find out whats connected to your rf input as channels wont come in if theres not the right source connected. GOOD LUCK
