Transmitter has a new battery and the red light goes on but nothing happens. My baby grand daughter had played with transmitter before this happened.

hi rjansen887, Adjust the dip switches:
fan/remote combination is set to work on a specific frequency, much
like tuning in a specifc radio station. Some fans allow you to set this
frequency by means of a set of small switches called "dip switches".
There is one set located inside the remote, and the other set would be
position on the fan, with the remote receiver electronics. This would
be either on top of the motor, or inside the switch housing or ceiling
canopy. These switches "tune" the remote and fan (received) to the same
"station" and therefore must be set to the same setting. If a fan is
not responding to the remote you can check to make sure that the
switches are set to the same setting in both locations, and/or try a
different setting. They are also useful if you have two remote fans,
you will want to be sure each fan is set different so the remotes do
not interfere. Lastly, if some other wireless device is interfering
with the fan (causing it to turn on and off seemingly at random) such
as a garage door opener or cordless phone, you can try a different
setting on the dip switches.

To Program Receiver <br />
Step 2-1 Locate the Learn Code Button and Radio Signal Indicator on the Power Head Receiver of your Door Operator.<br />
Step 2-2 Press a Transmitter Button once within 30 seconds.<br />
Step 2-3 Press and release the Learn Code Button<br />
• The Radio Signal Indicator will blink approximately 2 times per second.<br />
• The Radio Signal Indicator stays lit - SOLID.<br />
Step 2-4 Press the same Transmitter Button within 30 seconds.<br />
• Radio Signal Indicator will go out.<br />
NOTE: If a second Transmitter Code is not confirmed within 30 seconds or
if a different Transmitter Code is sent, the Radio Signal Indicator
will blink approximately 4 times per second, then programming will
stop. If programming stops, repeat Steps 2-2 through 2-4.<br />
Step 2-5 Repeat Steps 2-2 through Step 2-4 for each Transmitter, Wireless Keypad or other access device to be learned.<br />
NOTE: A maximum of 7 Transmitter, Wireless Keypad and other access
device Codes can be stored into Receiver Memory at one time. If a
Transmitter becomes lost or if you want to delete a Transmitter,
Wireless Keypad or other access device, proceed to ERASING ALL RECEIVER

Step 4-1 Press and HOLD the Learn Code Button for 10 seconds or until Radio Signal Indicator goes out.<br />

Step 4-2 Reprogram the Receiver with the remaining Transmitter Codes (Repeat Steps 2-2 through 2-4).<br />

• Replace with new batteries.<br />

The batteries may be to low to operate the IR transmitter, but still turn the lights on when you press a button.
If you have a cell phone with a camera, turn the camera on and look IR transmitter end of the remote. It may have a dark red lens. Press some buttons on the remote, and you should be able to see the IR signal in the cell phone. If not, try new batteries in the remote. If that does not work, it could have a problem with the code for the TV. Try to reprogram the TV button.
I have had the same problem with the light coming on intermittently by itself. At first I also could not change the settings and have the remote work with the new settings. But I found out that when you change the dip switch of the receiver you must turn off the power using the wall switch or the circuit breaker and turn it back on before the receiver will use the new dip setting. I am still waiting to see if the light will come back on after changing the dip switches from 1-on, 2-on, 3-on, 4-off to 1-off, 2-on, 3-on, 4-on and the remote's jumpers from 1-jumpered, 2-jumpered, 3-jumpered, 4- no jumper to 1-no jumper, 2-jumpered, 3-jumpered, 4- jumpered.
Have about a 30 second window to replace batteries before all codes are lost and when you put in the new batteries it goes into programing mode. Re-enter codes and try it again. Have the same remote and it has happened to me before.
Possibly your new equipment doesn't use IR (infared) as the media for the remote. I have used the pyramid and different versions of it for DirecTV/Dish and most everything else for years with no major problems. occasionally a unit will fail, but that happens. If the red light blinks on the "transmitter" (no antenna) it should indicate that it is receiving IR from the remote. The "receiver" (antenna) has to be oriented correctly in front of the unit to be controlled. I put the receiver no closer than 5' to the unit. The signal coming out is a cone shape and it's easier to aim the further away you are. As a test, you could try using the remote to control a stereo or something else, even a fan. If the remote has a led or a dark red plastic cap on the front end, it should be an IR unit.
If this happens often enough, it would be fairly simple to troubleshoot. Remove the batteries from your remote, if the problem persists, the problem is not the remote. Next step would be to unplug power to the transmitter, if the problem persists, the problem is not the transmitter. Next step unplug power to the receiver, this should undoubtedly make the symptoms stop, but try it anyway. If it does, it doesn't necessarily mean that the unit is bad. The remote extenders work on radio frequencies. If you have the paperwork for yours, look to see what frequency range it uses. Many other devices use radio, too. Cordless phones, especially the "frequency jumpers" constantly seek around for unused spectrum space and will jump right in somebody elses' space. If you have neighbors, their equipment can interfere with yours and vice versa. I've had microwave ovens with leaky door gaskets interfere with 2.4ghz signals. The new(relatively) incursion of home wireless broadband is another local spectrum user, I can pick up as many as nine of them at once. And the lot size here is about 1/2 acre. I shudder to think what it's like in an apartment/condo environment.
