The resolution of the on-board video (K8M800 Micro AM2) is rather poor or limited. I tried installing a Gainward video card and the result was it took ages for the system to finally come up. Question: are there any options in the configuration menu or jumper one must set to use an external video card with this motherboard?
The resolution of the on-board video is poor. I wanted to improve it by using an external video card but for some reason the system does not accept the external video card. It takes 15 minutes for the system to come up when I install an external video card. What must I do in setup to make the system accept the external video card??

I would verify that the memory you're using is actually working properly. Try to boot to the new stick and see if it works. If not, it doesn't work. If it does, you may need to replace the original stick with the same stick that you are trying to use now. Two things: video card issue or video card settings. Try to go to the power options configuration of your portable system. Adjust the brightness. If changes does not take effect on your portable's display as well as the external monitor, it is a video card issue. The last option of resolution is to re-install the video driver. Click the link below and choose the exact model of your computer. Try to download the video driver for your computer. Make sure that you have the correct driver for your operating system. If re-installing the video driver still fails, unfortunately you need to have your video card replaced. Usually the video card comes embedded on the motherboard. That means you have to have your whole board replaced.

Try to uninstall and reinstall drivers. And make sure cables have a good connection, volume settings are ok in Control Panel Sound applet and also in Realtek settings. Good Luck!
