2002 oldsmobile alero...I removed the control panel to fix a faulty connection from cd player, upon doing so the control to switch from vent to floor to defrost fell apart. There was a small metal plate with 3 small spings behind the control that fell out. I am requesting instructions or a diagram explaining how to or showing me how to insert the springs and plate back into its place

SOURCE: heater control 98 chevy s10 blazer

These trucks have a problem where moisture builds up in the heater box then freezes. When this freezes and you change your heater settings it breaks the shaft for the blend door. If this is what happened you should be able to look under the dash above and to the right of the gas pedal and you will see two vaccuum accuators one of them you should be able to wiggle around the linkage if it is broke. To fix this you need to remove the entire dash to get the heater box out which involves discharging the AC and draining the coolant because the heater core and evaporator come out. Please rate.

SOURCE: Vent control

You have a vacuum leak.Defrost is the default postion(no vacuum).
See if you can locate the small black vacuum line that goes inside the vehicle on the passenger side near the heater core. The trace it back, should see it going to a canister then to the intake manifold.Make sure it is not disconnected or broken somewhere.

SOURCE: passenger door window off track

I have had the same problem with my driver door. the white pieces actually connect thew metal bracket on the window to the metal pulley that moves the window up and down. the only way to fix this is to buy a new window regulator which shouldn't cost more than $55 online (www.am-autoparts.com). the windindow regulatort comes with these plastic pieces. This is how I solved my problem. Hope this helps!!!!!!:)

I have a 2003 Alero and I can't switch the air conditioning to defrost or the floor. Do I need a new switch or what?

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door - could also be a faulty control on the dash. I would have someone check the blend doors first.

The knob on 2002 alero will not change position

Trace it down to the box from the switch (lubricate WD-40) and try to turn it from there. Not sure what else it could be unless the cable between the two is broken or disconnected.
