Hello, I have a notebook with Vista and Lexmark Z11. I bought a suitable cord for connecting them together, installed the drivers, but the printer won't print the test page, the error appears in the window with tasks for printing. But the control panel shows the installed printer and says "Ready to work", and the printed doesn't giva any sound.

I found this solution on another website, I suggest you give it a try.
Everything works fine since I installed Vista except for my printer a Compaq IJ300 which is a Lexmark Z11 in disguise. I installed the driver for the regular Z11 through the "Add Printer" but had problems.
Went to Lexmark site - downloaded drivers for Z11 Series ColorFine- working perfectly. So far I have no other problems with vista.
Z11 drivers are available here:
http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi Vista drivers are not listed on the site. You can try the XP driversto see if they work or contact live support at the link above and seeif they have any.
Looks like I've cracked it [Touches wooden desk]. Need a USB to IEEE 1284 36-pin Parallel Printer Cable, like the one I received today (ordered yesterday from www.cables2u.co.uk). First, connect it to Z11. Turn on Z11 and boot up Vista PC/laptop. (I run Vista Business on my laptop.) Connect cable to computer. Message appears "Installing device driver software". Click it for status. 'Found New Hardware' box appears. Click 'Locate and install driver software'. A message appears "Error loading LXADSUI.DLL. Specified module could not be found". Click 'OK'. Message appears saying driver software installed successfully. ["Yeah, right ..."] (Have faith, folks!) Now, click Start, then Control Panel and double-click Printers. Right click on Z11 and click on Set As Default Printer. Right click on Z11 again and click on Properties. Check on Ports tab that Port USB is ticked for Z11. On Cartridge Maintenance tab, check right cartridge is showing. If not, click 'Install/Change Cartridge' and follow instructions. Then 'Clean Print Nozzles' and 'Align Cartridges'. Check settings on the other tabs in Properties look OK and try printing a test page! It looks good to me!
You likely need a USB cable with an 'A' connection on one end and a 'B' connection on the other end. They can be found at stores like Best Buy, Office Max, Staples etc. If the computer you are trying to connect the printer to doesn't have any USB ports, then you will have to add a USB card in one of your computer's expansion slots to allow the printer to work.
