Question about Ricoh IS 330DC Flatbed Scanner

Document feeder will not Operate

When attempting to use the document feeder by selecting ADF in the Desktop Binder V2 software I get the following error message: "The scanner is not ready." That's it, nothing else. The document feeder is attached and when documents are placed in the feeder, the feeder activation light illuminates on the scanner bed. So it knows it has documents loaded.

Re: Document feeder will not Operate

I am having the same problem with this scanner. Does the paper feed try tilt up? It does this to make the paper meed the rollers. Are the rollers moving when you try to scan? You could look where the edge of the paper meets the feeder, with a flash light or good lighting you could see if the rollers are moving. If not, and the belts for those rollers are on track. Remove the upper back cover. This only takes 2 screws. Once removed, you can tell the scanner to scan again, and see what part is not moving. The stepper motor engages, and spring moves, then another stepper motor engages and clutch should simultaneously move. More often than not, the clutch might have gone bad. I hope this info helps you trouble shoot your problem. With my scanner, I need to replace the clutch.

Re: Document feeder will not Operate

Try cleaning the rubber rollers onder the cover where the documents feed in, using a rag and some rubbing alcohol.

ADF paper jam, when there is none

If you are receiving an Error Code 103 or a Paper Jam error, but there are no pages in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), follow the steps below:
  1. Close the scanning application (such as PaperPort)
  2. Turn off the scanner and the computer
  3. If you have a combination ADF with a Flatbed scanner, unplug the ADF cable from the base of the scanner
  4. Plug the ADF cable back in
  5. Turn on the scanner power
  6. Turn on the computer
  7. Try scanning again
For a Paper Jam or Error Code 103, make sure that the ADF cable in the rear is connected to the scanner base. Check the flatbed to make sure that it is clear. A page incorrectly placed on the flatbed may interfere with a page feeding through the ADF.

If your scanner stops scanning due to a paper jam in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), a warning dialog box appears after a few moments.

To clear a paper jam:
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Remove the jammed paper and close the cover.
If you are receiving a paper jam error, or if the scanner is running continuously, check to make sure the paper sensor arm is not stuck down.
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Look for the small black plastic arm
  3. When you press on this arm, it should move freely up and down
  4. If the arm is stuck down, please contact Technical Support for troubleshooting options
  5. Close the ADF cover.

If you are using WinXP or Vista, the drivers for the device are part of the driver packages included with the operating system. As far as software to operate the scanner, MS Office products include the capability to use an attached scanner to scan documents and images as well as a Document Imaging Tool and a Document Scanning Tool.. Many other packages also offer the same type of functionality. Going directly to the HP site ( and selecting the Support and Drivers tab, selecting the 'download drivers and software' button and entering 'scanjet' and the specific model number of your device can give you any software that they still have available for your product. They have a long list of scanners that they provide DeskScan and Copy software for WinXP/Win2K, etc. The newer ones also have updated drivers and software for Vista users.

Richo color scanner is760d don't have option auto feeder

This scanner can be controlled by PixEdit so you may scan any amount of sheets. Even easy continue scanning to one document when not enough space in the ADF for the hold stack

1- reinstall drivers

2- Use the WIA driver for Windows OpSys

3- Pay close attention to options in dialog box. Select ADF or Document Feeder as an option

4- Depending on the OCR application [personally I prefer PaperPort] the imaging process can be very eaasy or somewhat difficult

ADF document feed

Hi, The problem seems to be a piece of debris , paper stuck in the ADF roller assy. You can check this by opening up the adf cover and inspecting the paper path. I have seen where a very small peice can cause paper path problems to where something is blocking the paper> Good Luck!
