Assuming they are the printer brands, brand name and brand new cartridges and you removed the tape which protects the ink cartridge boards and the printer worked perfectly up until now...

...take a pencil and with the eraser, rub the contacts of the cartridge and in where the sit in the printer. If there is ink on them, use a q-tip and without leaving any lint behind dab the ink off. If you need to, use the smallest amount of rubbing alcohol you can on the q-tip to get the ink off. If you have to use alcohol q-tip, do that first then rub with the eraser.

Are the cartrideges real HP ones or an off brand? If a substitute , take them back for a refund and get the real thing.

SOURCE: my 6110 keeps telling to remove and check printer

I have HP 8500 If you have refilled cartridge yourself it may be you sometimes have to reset the contacts, but usually have you recently purchased new/replacement for and old 6110?

If so, HP tend to be a bit naughty, similar units but they up date specs including their cartridge, example.

I had a 8500 all in one, upgraded a bought 8500 Wireless. Cartridge look exactly the same, till I inserted, would not accept. "########"

The black ink doesn't print. We have brother cartridges in our printer DCP 385C, and until recently it always told us when ink was running out. now it doesn't print the black ink at all and it doesn't tell...

Make sure the protective tape covering the new cartridge has been COMPLETELY removed then reinsert. Your printer should tell you that a new cartridge is inserted and ask to print a test page, align etc. Otherwise your cartridge may have a faulty chip which simply wont read.
In which case you need to return it and get a replacement.

Printer will not align

Print cartridge

When the print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer cannot detect/communicate with print cartridge.

Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth.

1. Open the top cover of the printer.

2. Remove the print cartridges.

3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a damp, lint-free cloth.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture from the contacts.

5. Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

6. Close the top cover.

7. Try printing again.

If you still cant communicate try with new cartridge .

Lexmark 2500 printer won't print after replacing black cartridge

Unfortunately the printer wont print unless there is ink in both cartridges

Ink cartridge light keeps blinking

you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.

Alignment

Remove both the cartridges from the printer and check the expiry dates on both cartridges, if any of the cartridge is expired then change the cartridge and check the result. If the cartridges are not expired then check the ink levels present in the cartridges from the HP Solution Center. If the ink levels are good then clean the copper contacts of the cartridges with a soft cotton cloth and power cycle the printer.

  1. Turn the product off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the product.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, and then reconnect the power cord to the product.
  4. Turn the product on.
Now insert the cartridges and align them, after alignment page prints then scan the page.

If it still gives alignment failed message then remove the cartridges and reset the printer and check for the result.

My printer/scanner keeps telling me to remove and check the cartridges so i do then put them back and it says the same and wont work

Hi,
Try cleaning electrical contacts:
Use cotton wool and alcohol and clean electrical contacts on back of cartridge and where they make contact inside printer.

Then install print head and inks and test.

Good Luck
