Any type will work. Most monitor don't need drivers but If you buy a new one the monitor will come with a driver cd.

Try pressing Fn-F7 to Choose monitor, it is a setting for using an external monitor or the screen or both. If it does not work try running to safe mode and change the screen resolution to its recommended setting.

Sony vaio pcv-w510g. CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded hardware monitor found an error. Enter power setup menu for details. Also, power button must be depressed...

It sounds like the CMOS battery may be dead. It's a small watch battery inside the computer that maintains your time and date settings even when the computer is turned off and not connected to power. They die after 3-5 years and need to be replaced. They are usually a standard 2032 watch battery that you can get at Radio Shack for $5. The bad news is that the computer will need to be opened up to change it. If you are not comfortable doing that, I'd recommend finding a local technician or shop to do it for you. They can be found pretty easily using google maps or craigslist

Have a Vaio PCV-RS 530G, everything lights up on front of computer but nothing shows up on monitor and a beeping noise sounds from the computer.

Those beeping sounds are the computer post codes. They point you in the direction of any hardware problem its encountered while trying to boot up.

Here's a url which should help you with a bit more info:-

http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

That beep code should point you in the right direction of any component failure you may have.

I would lke to buy a larger monitor to watch netflix. what kind of conection should i look for in new monitor?

it depends on the connections you have coming out of your video card. Most large monitors come with both a DVI and VGA port, so you should be able to attach them to any computer.

New wide screen not compatible with my old pcv-rx650

Try, right clicking, then pushing the option of customise or personalize (depends on operating system), then it will give you an option (by where you change your background), to change the resolution. Choose one of the bigger ones, then when you hook up the other monitor, it will fit on the screen, and you can go back the the same screen and pick the one that looks best with that display (The monitor should have came with a manual that says the recommended resolution for the display.

Hardware monitor error

Hi,

Sounds like loose connection on your monitor card, if installed seperately, otherwise the wrong drivers installed.

Boot up in safe mode and uninstall the monitor drivers. and try and boot again.

Let me know if need further help.
