In service menu there are 2 parameters you should look. First one - descaling - should be on 'done'. The second one is a counter - water used since last descaling - should be on 0.

Descaling Problem SOLVED!
Folks, I really hope this helps a lot of you. I too encountered the dreaded descaling problem where it gets stuck in a loop and never finishes. I thought the machine was toast and see so many reviews that people experienced this and had to return the machine.
I tore apart the machine and figured out the issue and the super simple fix!
What happens is the water level sensor does not know it is running out so when the tank empties due to running dry, it never completes the cycle.
Where the water basin goes, if you look at the back lower down, you will see a small rectangular protrusion. This is the water level sensor that works by measuring capacitance. You know how sometimes your machine runs completely out of water and you have to prime it with the tea/hot water button? This is why! When you put the tank in full, water splashes over the edge and down the back. It coats the outside rear of the tank and the sensor with water so the machine thinks it still has an adequate level of water but then all of a sudden runs dry.
The FIX:
Take a paper towel and dry off the water level sensor and the back of the tank. When you put the tank in, do not fill it too high and put it in gently to avoid water spilling out.
Simple as that...fixed!

Saeco xelsis leaking water

The removable drip tray inside the front of the machine has two rubber inserts on the back side and the rubber has come away from the plastic causing a false leak. You will need to order a new one or fix the existing one.

To remove a descaling light you need to hold down the steam/water button for 6 seconds and the light should go off. The button is located on the right side of the coffee button.

Descaling Single Boiler Home espresso machines (HOME SINGLE BOILER ESPRESSO MACHINES)

Approximately every 3 months (depending on your use and the water hardness), clean the machine with natural citric acid based decalcifying agent.
1. Add a descaling solution into the water reservoir. Mix thoroughly to dissolve (use warm water for better results).
2. Remove the filter holder and place a cup under the group head and another cup, or other container, under the steam wand to catch cleaning solution.
3. Turn espresso machine on, turn coffee pump on and run approximately 8 oz. of solution through the brew head. Turn machine off and let the machine sit for 15 minutes.
4.Run approximately 8 oz. through the steam wand, and again, turn machine off and let sit for 15 minutes.
Repeat by allowing solution to run alternately through the steam wand and brew head. Turn espresso machine off after each cycle. Repeat process until solution has been run through.
5. Do not leave espresso machine on. Do not wait for the ready light to come on. Do not use the steam switch during this process. Do not allow reservoir to run empty!
6. Rinse reservoir thoroughly with fresh water. Refill reservoir with fresh water. Run half a tank of fresh water through group head, alternating between group head and steam wand.

How do I de calcify?

HI
The Digital Italia is programmed to descale the boilers on its own. With the machine turned on, push and hold the descale button (bottom right button). This should say "Descaling" in the display. Mix your descaling crystals in your water tank. Stir until they are completely dissolved in the water. Next have a container that can handle about 2 quarts of water under the steam wand, or have the machine positioned next to a sink. Next open the steam knob on the right side of the machine. You should hear the pump turn on and pump about 2 to 3 oz's. of water through the wand into the container. The pump should turn off and there will be a wait of about 2 minutes. The pump should turn on again and more water will come out. It will do this until it has completely drained the water tank. Do not interrupt this cycle until the machine has stopped on its own. When it does stop, the display will say "Finished descaling" push any button to continue. Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh water. Place the water tank on the machine again, push the descale button again, then close and then open the steam knob again to let water just flow through the boilers until it is emptied by the machine, but don't turn off anything until the machine stops again on its own. This will clear the descale if you have gone to the "Reset Descale" in the menu and chose "Yes". Refill the water tank again with fresh water and then close and then open the steam knob again to prime and your ready to go.

How do I descale the Starbucks Barista Italia Digital machine? There is no "descale" option on the menu list like other machines I've had. I received this machine as a slightly-used gift with...

The Italia is programmed to descale the boilers on its own, when set in the correct mode. To program the machine to descale it's self, do the following. With the machine turned on, push and hold the descale button (bottom right button). This should light the top right red indicator light. Do not interrupt this cycle until the machine has stopped on its own. When it does stop, all lights on the top will flash. Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh water. Place the water tank on the machine again, push the descale button, then close and then open the steam knob again to let water just flow through the boilers until it is emptied by the machine, but don't turn off anything until the machine stops again on its own. This will clear the descale light. Refill the water tank again with fresh water, then open the steam knob to prime the machine and your ready to go.

Descaling the Palazzo: The Palazzo is programmed to descale the boilers on its own, when set in the correct mode. You program the machine to descale it's self, do the following. With the machine turned on, push and hold the left 2 buttons (clean and pre-ground). This should light the top right red indicator light. Mix your descaling crystals in 32 to 48 oz in your water tank. Stir until they are completely dissolved in the water. Next, have a container that can handle about 2 quarts of water under the steam wand, or have the machine positioned next to a sink. When it does stop, all lights on the bottom will flash. Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh water. Place the water tank on the machine again, and then close, and then open the steam knob again and let the water just flow through the boilers until it is emptied by the machine. Don't turn off anything until the machine stops on its own. This will clear the descale light. Refill the water tank again with fresh water and your ready to go.

How do i reset it after descaling it?

Hi
If you are talking about the descale light, you must let the machine quit on its own. The pump has to stop on its own. Any interruption (you stopping the machine) will keep it in the descale mode. Once it stops on its own, the lights will change. Then do the rinse by replacing the water in the tank and closing and then reopening the steam knob and again letting the machine quit on its own. Again the lights will change. Then repeat the last cycle until all the red lights go away and you only have a green blinking light.

The pump must quit on its own.
