Dots appear on the touch screen

hi lea, does this dots and lines appears occasionally or it just stays there? because if its permanently there, then you might need to replace the lcd part of the lower screen (not the touch screen part) but if its occasionally, then try to see if it happens when your on the lowest brightness or highest brightness, if it is then you will have to adjust the variable resistor on the motherboard of the DS,let me know if you have to do this.

I lent on my ds and these now black dots on the screen and i turned it off to see if they would go away and now it wont turn back on HELP ME IF MY MUM FINDS OUT SHES GUNNA KILL ME IT WAS BRAND NEW!!!!

Black dots on the screen may be burnt pixels on the screen. First, relax. Second, put the DS on the charger for a while to give it a good charge and then see if it turns on.

The Top screen has a big black circle on it.

Hi,
The top screen will need to be replaced. Your only options are to either to send it off for repair or to fix it yourself.

If you intend on fixing it yourself I have a couple of guides to help you...

NDS lite has the power(green lite flashes), but screens wont lit

Hi,

When you switch the DS lite on you should notice that one of the screens flashes... if thats correct then the screen that doesn't flash is the one that will need replacing which, I would assume is the upper screen as judging by what you say has a damaged ribbon.

Top Screen of DS Lite broken

Replace upper screen and the Upper front bezel.
Or replace the upper screen and the complete DS Lite Housing. You can find them on the well known auction sites. Please be aware that you must know what your are doing. If in doubt, send it to Nintendo or a local Nintendo repair service

Nintendo DS lite

Baakie,

You turn de DS Lite on, the green light flashes and the unit turned of. Is that correct?

The DS Lite checks some things before he starts-up. One of these things are the screens. the DS sends a signal to it and expect an answer back. When this answer is not received, it shuts down.
The most common problem in these cases is the flatcable of the upper screen.
Question is, did you replaced the housing? If so, you might dammaged the flatcable of the upper screen. If not, the flatcable might be defective because of using the DS Lite a lot (open /close the unit).

So first check the flatcable of the upper screen (google and you will find manuals how to open the DS Lite but be carefull!!!!)

Second, on the mainboard are two fuses (F1 and F2) . Check these! One of them might be defective

Bottom screen scrambled on nintendo ds lite

This option is only suitable for out of warranty devices as opening it violates the warranty.

Open the device following this info:
How to dismantle an Original Nintendo DS.

If yours is the NDS Lite, just find this video in youtube:
"Disassembling Nintendo DS Lite"

The bottom screens have 2 wrap wires, one big and visible, that is the screen cable, the other is small and not so obvious and this one is for the touch screen and you dont want to get it broken.

The cable connectors release the cable by lifting ot pulling the brown or black lock and be sure to remember how it was connected so you can know the right position of the cable when connected right not having any problem with loosen cables before you finish.

Good Luck...

DS power problem

Hi Nerts,

These cables or ribbon cable and wire connects directly inside the upper LCD monitor. it is not feasible to replace these wires only.  I suggest you see about getting a replacement upper LCD screen which will give you the wires you need and a new screen to boot. Another porblem is the case itself is very hard to disassemble.  You will come near destroying the case to ge to the lcd.  You must disassemble the unit fully and put the correct curl in the ribbon cable to get it to fit right. In short, the price being what it is for a replacement LCD, and the trouble you have to go though to get this problem fixed, It may not be totally worth repairing. If you dont care and wish to do a repair, then my wishes for luck are with you.
