I have a G56 HP laptop won't turn on. The caps lock button is flashing, and the wifi key if on amber instead of a white light. how can this be fixed?

Has there been any damage? A liquid Spill? You didn't post the Make, Model of laptop or the OS you are using? Any updates or upgrades lately?

remove the battery for a moment and re-install again, it will solve the issue

Cause by hardware error. try to refix all connection inside. and then try.

1) Did you tried to connect External Monitor? Tell me the status
2) Remove all Power Adapters and battery. Push the Power Button for 15seconds. Again Connected the battery and Power Adapter. Check if its working or not. If not then Must be Motherboard Problem.

Remove the main battery and try again, also! the power adapter charger should be checked for correct voltage, if okay! pull one stick of ram and test, and the second piece not forgetting to put the first one back and power up, if all this fails you will need to get it assessed.

It sounds like the LCD on your screen may have burned out. Here's a few things you can try to verify if that is indeed the case:.

1. Unplug the power cord and take the battery out of the laptop. Then, press and hold the power button in for at least 30 seconds. That will drain the residual power from the system. Then, plug back in only the power cord - the battery should still be out, then try to turn the computer on. See if any video occurs at all. If the screen is entirely blank after a few minutes, go ahead an unplug the power cord again to turn off all the power to the unit.

2. Put back in the battery and power cord, and plug an external monitor or projector into the laptop. Turn the laptop on and then close the lid immediately after pressing the power button. See if any video will appear on an external video source. (IE monitor or projector). If video does show on the external monitor, then open the LCD screen back up and see if any video shows there.

3. If the video does not show on an external monitor at all, try the hot keys/function keys to swap the video output. (On your model of laptop if should be the F4 key.)

4. Also try the screen brightness keys. Press and hold F3 to increase the brightness on your laptop.

check by removing the battery then put it back again power it on, or without battery power it on directly then check, if still the same problem, the fault is in the motherboard of the laptop, better take it the service center or consult some technician in your area

Laptops are so integrated that usually a system failure that involves power issues such as in your case where you cant get it turn on with anything on the screen mean the mainboard (motherboard) is damaged. This usually leads to buying a new laptop or paying for the board to be replaced which usually costs as much as the laptop.

When you say that you slid your finger back and forth on the strip
do you mean the strip along the back of the laptop just below the screen ??
Because on some laptops the wifi switch and cap locks and the mute switch are all along
that strip

so you may of by accident pushed them all and de activated them all
pressing them all in turn should activated them again but if they done
then you could try FN+ the keys that you want to activate
