Many Problems with Samson G-Track or not?

Hello. I just bought myself a SAMSON G track
I have a few things that are problems for me that I hope can be resolved but not totally sure if they are actual hardware problems found in the Gtrack....or at least if its normal or not.

If anyone can help that would be great!

1) Knob with ''''mic'' cannot hear ANY gain or even the microphone until its 90 percent turned all the way up where t proceeds to turn up too high.
2) Audible and annoying static when ''Mic is turned 92 percent the way up
3) Anytime I try to record I hear an audable whistling/hum in the background.

Should I bring it back tomorrow and get a new one or are these problems fixable/are they normal.

Thanx again to anyone who can help!

I also don't get anything coming through the mic until it's turned 90% up. Not sure if it's related to the above problem or not but when recording with Sonar LE I also get popping and clicking.
Having said that, with the mic at 90% or higher it sounds great through the direct mic monitor.

Okay, I ditched the Sonar software and tried the mic with Audacity. It solved the popping/clicking problem and recorded sound is now very rich and clear. The new problem I'm having though is I can record the mic only (set at Inst/mic) or instrument only (set at line in) but not both together. I get nothing through the instrument channel when I'm recording on Inst/mic. I think it's because I haven't figured out how to record on 2 tracks with Audacity and assign the voice to one track (mono left) and instrument to another (mono right). When I hit record it just assigns a new track. I'm sure it's probably something simple I'm just missing.

That doesn't sound normal. Does the instrument input work? Did you try it on a different computer?

I bought a SAMSON G Track and had similar problems. It would not record sound unless the mic knob was 90% or more and then the sound would have a lot of background noise/whine. I spent several hours reading the solutions on this site and nothing work so I returned it. They sent me a new one and I no longer have this problem. My advice? Just return or exchange it. I am still having problems recording it and having it play back in stereo though.

Hi.  I dunno if yur using pc or mac but with a mac yu need to adjust the mic settings on the comp. For the static its probably your set up or as i said in another guys problem, the usb cable given with it is **** so try using another one from a printer or wtv to see if that makes a difference for you. Also if you are recording just through the mic i find that it seems to only work well when the input is on line and not inst/mic. Hope this can be of some help. Its a great piece of kit once you get it working well.. Goodluck

Can a Samson g track mic be used with the new iPad?

Yes, but the iPad doesn't supply enough power for the G Track to run headphones, so you will need to use a powered hub between the mic and the iPad.

Hi i have connected the Samson G-track with my macbook. also i using Nicecast & Traktor for radio broadcasting. when i talk from Samson G Track my voice comes only from left speaker. I try the...

This is because the G Track's Mic signal is on the Left channel and the Instrument signal is on the Right channel. You are making a stereo recording when you should be making 2 mono recordings. Does Nicecast have an option to set the track to mono Left channel? Traktor should, but I haven't used it so I can't tell you where the option is. There's probably a Track Input drop-down or something like that.

I have problem with my samson g track mic. When I record my vocals I can hear backround noise on my vocals. and I dunno how to get of that 100% I need clear voice not noise on my vocals :((

The Samson G Track microphone is very sensitive. If you have it on the heavy metal base on your computer desk it will pick up the vibrations of computer fans. It's vital to get the microphone off the desk using a mike stand with a boom or invest in the G Track spider holder if you want to use the desktop stand.

You can do a test just by holding the microphone with your hand. You should get very little noise apart from the fan noise with will be very faint. That noise is much easier to remove than the vibration noise as removing the vibration noise affects how your voice sounds.

Hope this helps.

It's supposed to only record on the left side. When it's in "INST/MIC" mode the left channel has your mic on it and the right channel has your instrument, so you can mix them separately. Just configure your recording software to put the left channel on one track and the right channel on another track.

Samson G-track - Vista requiring to install USB Audio Codec

If the LED doesn't light when you plug it in, and it doesn't show up in Device Manager ("USB Composite Device" or "USB Audio Device"), then the mic must be defective. Contact Samson for a replacement.
