Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scanner Faliure When Printer/Scanner/Fax is Initializing, the electric motor that moves the scanner light continuously pulls the scanner light assembly towards it even when it can not go any further. Motor pulls continuously in same pattern also of start, stop, start, stop, ...eventually it will turn the light off and stop moving while the information display reads, "Scanner Faliure. Turn Power Off then On again." After turning off and on several times, same occurence. Please help with any advice.

    I'm having the same problems with the scanner. Can the scanner be disabled or can it be fix.

    Yep same deal, have tried the turning off and on again, but it just keeps doing the same thing. Should I cut my losses and buy a new machine?

Hi tshark92356,
unplug the power cord and try connecting directly to wall outlet and dont plug the power cord to the printer.
press and hold tha ON button on the printer 1 min and plug it back, it should resolve the issue.

What does initializing mean


Initializing means that the printer is starting up and getting all functions ready such as fax, print engine, scanner. If your printer is freezing with just initializing on the screen then there is a problem. If you have added any extra memory to the printer remove and try to restart. Most common failure is the formatter itself.

CM2320 won't complete startup process and receive scanner error 5


The scanner has only 1 motor and when initializing moves the lamp to the end, where there is a photocell to detect home position. Possibly bad sensor or dirt on tracks which interferes with the movement. Clean the rails with alcohol may correct the problem.

Printer will not scan


he HP All-in-One product displays one of the following error messages on the control panel when scanning or copying:
  • Scanner failure, power off and on
  • Scanner System Failure
  • Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
  • Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
  • Scanner failure, cycle power
Additionally, the scanner bulb might not turn on during scanning.ry the following solutions in the order presented to resolve the issue. When one of the solutions resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.Solution one: Check the scanner lightFollow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document.
  1. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  2. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  3. Make a color copy.
  4. When the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. It is not necessary to lift the lid completely CAUTION:Do not look directly at the scanner light.The scanner light should be visible under the scanner glass to the right or left.Figure 1: Scanner light visible underneath the glass

    • If the scanner light does not turn on when the scanner mechanism moves across the scanner bed, continue to the solution to reset the product.
    • If the scanner light turns on , continue with the next solution.

    1. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the product.
    2. Unplug the product power cord from any surge protector, extension cord, or power strip, and then connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet.
    3. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the product.
    4. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
    5. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
    6. Try again to make a color copy.
      • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.note.pngNOTE:If the product works properly when plugged directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip or surge suppressor, the power strip or surge suppressor might not allow enough voltage for the product to work properly.
      • If the issue persists , continue with these steps.
    7. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the product, disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet, and then reconnect the power cord to a different wall outlet.

Hello,

This type of problem is usually caused by dirty mirrors in the scanner. After a few years of use the mirrors and lenses in the unit will get a fine coating of dust particles on them. The dust interferes with the scanner initializing the optics. When this happens the unit displays the Scanner warming up message on the screen and keeps trying to move the scanner assembly to get a good reading from the pickup. To solve the problem you will need to disassemble the scanner portion and clean all of the mirrors with window cleaner and a soft cloth or q-tip. To get dis-assembly guides just do a google search for the 'scanner warming up' error.

Season Greetings, hi, I have HP 7208 printer,copier,scanner & Fax (Network Printer), But now scanner is not working properly, that light is enable but that roller is not moving, how can i do?


You have a defective transfer motor that mover the light to scan the object. or the belt that assist this needs replacement.
Your scanner needs service.

Scanner faliure


the cables connected internally to the scanner unit had gone short some where in between you have to check it manually by opening the device .and then remove the cables and replace them with a same length cable.you can get the cables from any electronic shop who keeps printer assessories.and then it will work properly as normal.
