After a fresh install of windows xp pro
i'm trying to install office 2003 and even tryed 2007
i know there is nothing wrong with my insallation file's as i use them every day in my work
i tryed removing all the hotfixes but still no luck
wht els can i try?
(it keeps telling me that the files are corupt that i'm trying to install )
however i should have mentioned that the files are on a external hard drive as this is a corporate pakage
i'm trying to fix the laptop for one of my users but i cant seem to get round this problem .
as i said it's a fresh install of XP pro no other programes are installed
i've never seen this before
i cant think that there would be anything wrong with the hardware as the OS is installing just fine.hi MUMMA_1
thank you for that

If it is showing you that the files are corrupt it is possible that the disk you are trying to use is either dirty (clean with a little white spirit and then gently dry with a cotton cloth) or is scratched. In which case certain files that are needed may not be able to be read correctly.
if you are using the files from a harddrive and not a disk then it is possible that some of the files in the data.cab have got corrupted along the way. Or the laptop does not have the correct requirements to run office 2003/07
Have you not got an original office disk to try?if you are using the files from a harddrive and not a disk then it is possible that some of the files in the data.cab have got corrupted along the way. Or the laptop does not have the correct requirements to run office 2003/07
also make sure that all of the drivers for the laptop are correct as it is a fresh install of xp you may need further drivers for the laptop.also make sure that all of the drivers for the laptop are correct as it is a fresh install of xp you may need further drivers for the laptop.

It sounds like you are trying to install an update like service pack 3 for windows xp. It is trying to tell you that you do not need the update . You need to go to microsoft downloads and type in "Microsoft office Pro 2007 install purchase " and that shoud take you to a page with the file you need.
The message is clear: Microsoft Office 2007 cannot refuses to install on Windows 2000 Pro. You need a newer version of Windows (Windows XP or newer) to have MS Office 2007 work properly. Alternatively you can install Office 97 on Windows 2000 Pro.
You can use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard or User State Migration Tool. Also, with that size of an environment you should consider hosting your own mail and use Exchange. Also, are you in a domain environment?
Hi,
The problem is the feature you tried istalling might have corrupted the OS. What you can try doing is create new user account first , restart your computer into the new user computer and then try installing. If the same still doesnot work , then my friend the only solution would be to reinstall windows xp and then put office 2007.
Your solution makes no sense. XP and 2000 are practically the same. The only reason Office 2007 doesn't work on XP is because someone at Microsoft has thought "If we place some code in Office 2007 to prevent it running in Windows 2000, maybe people will buy XP or Vista to use it. Then we can make more money!" That is the same with every Microsoft program that works on XP but not 2000. It is a marketing ploy. Someone help us find a way to get past this dirty profiteering trick.
I am not really sure, but I think that 2003 and 2007 use the same file names and some files may have gotton overwritten when you installed, so the app gets this file that is too advanced for the version or not advanced enough. Hope that helps.
My advice, uninstall both programs and ONLY INSTALL 1 version (2003 OR 2007)
hi, yes you can install office 2003 while you already have office 2007. you just need to change the installation directory when you launch the setup for office 2003. change it into something apart from what office 2007 already is installed in.
so what you're trying to say is that you should be entitled to an upgrade to office 2007 if office 2003 doesn't work? i would maybe think so... but no solid answer for that one.
