"Not Optimum Mode","Recommanded Mode 1280

FIXED : Before you start your legacy game, software where the "Recommanded Mode 1280 x 1024 60Hz" keeps showing, change your display FROM VIDEO CARD DISPLAY control application to 1024x768 or your choice.

My Syncmaster 2233 had same problem of "Not optimum mode" box coming on whenever I started any old game like Age of Empires etc. It got fixed by selecting FROM DISPLAY CARD DRIVER CONTROL UTILITY's (mine from Catalyst Control Center) >Set desktop area to > 1024 x 768 in my case BEFORE STARTING old application/game. Switch back to your normal resolution after you are done with this application.

Hope this helps.

Saurabh

I am getting an error message Not Optimum Mode Recommended Mode: 1280X1024 60Hz on my Samsung SyncMaster 913v monitor, what do you recommend to stop this message from occurring over and over again

If you are in windows, right click on your desktop in a blank area. On the drop down box that shows, click on Screen resolution (For Windows 7), properties (For Windows XP), or personalize (For Windows Vista). From there navigate to any tab or menu option to change video settings, or screen resolution.

There should be a slider bar to change the resolution you have, slide it to the 1280x1024 option and click apply.

I have included a video to assist further if I did not explain well enough.

Cannot Display This Video Mode... Optimum resolution 1680X1050 60Hz. This is all I can see, How can change the resolution back to resolution that I can display?

Reboot your PC and press F8 just before Windows loads to get it to load using safe mode, which you select from a list (You may have to continuously press F8). Once you have loaded in safe mode, select the correct resolution for your monitor then reboot the PC normally. You should now be able to see the screen correctly.

QUESTION: Monitor says:

Reboot your computer and press the F8 key right before you see the XP loading splash screen. You should get a menu that lists things like safe mode and vga mode. Select the vga mode option and hit enter twice. This will boot windows into 640x480 resolution and will allow you to change the resolution back to 1024x768 at 60hz

GX520 screen display message: cannot display this video mode

This means that the windows setting you have set can not display on your current monitor. There are two ways to fix this, one is to boot the computer in safe mode by pressing f8 after the POST screen and change the resolution and the other is to plug the computer into a different monitor to see if supports that resolution and then change the resolution in windows to a lower setting.

In case you don't know how to change the resolution in windows, follow below.

Right click on the desktop
Properties
Settings at the top
Move the slider to 1024x768
Click ok

Try rebooting. If that still doesn't work, try another resolution.

I have an error message on my screen which ios moving around. It says - 'not optimum mode. Recommended mode : 1280 x1024 60Hz'.

Sounds like you have an LCD monitor. LCD monitors look best in their native resolution. Yours must be 1280x1024. You need to (assuming this is a Windows PC) right click on the desktop and choose Personalize, Display Settings (Vista) or Properties, Settings (XP or older). Set the slider to 1280x1024. It'll confirm the change and then the message should never reappear.

Cannot display this video mode optimum resulotion 1280*1024 60hz

Hi,

Chances are that the video driver for XP and 2003 differs (even if only slightly). You might want to start the 2003 in "Safe Mode" first to lower both the Screen Resolution and Screen Refresh Rate to the lowest possible. Thereafter do an update on the video card driver compatible with 2003 from the Dell.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
