There is a board on the right side of the tv called the convergence bd

There are little connectors that are on the left of the board
the last one is the power to the convergence Ic's

That is the one that is closest to you. they are little black connectors with wires in them

Carefully lift it up

Then plug the tv back in and see if it fires up

If it does do not run it long

just enough to see the tubes light
then shut if off

If it goes on

your convergence ic's are Shorted

They have a kit for this tv it is available through local parts distributors
If you can't find it locally just Google HITACHI CONVERGENCE KIT

If you are not good with de-soldering and soldering do not attempt this repair. Remember to replace all the resistors in the kit

If you are not sure about doing this repair you should have your local tv guy do it for you

If it does not go on then I would suspect the regulator in the power supply But
Most of the time it's the ics

Red on/off indicator light never turns off

I had that same problem intermittently for about six months. Now I have no picture, just three small vertical lines in the center of the screen. One red, one green and one blue. Can anyone help? I know its outdated but I'd hate to throw the set in the dumpster if it just needs a little mainentance.
