Question about Philips PET710 Portable DVD Player

1 Answer

Nothing happens after I turn on the PET710 portable DVD player

I connected it to the TV to view a movie. After some time the player went dead with the power light ON and nothing after that.
Now when I turn it ON the power lamp turns ON with no action on the player.
Can Anyone help?

This DVD player needs to be taken or sent in to a service center for a complete testing and analysis for component failure. The unit has lost some or all of its command and control functions due to component failure. You can call the Phillips customer support at this telephone number 1-888-744-5477. Give them the model number of you DVD player and they will tell you how to get service for it. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

We don't know how to hook our Phillips DVD to our new Westinghouse HD TV. We have Dishnetwork. We had it hooked up to our old TV and it worked fine.

The easiest way to connect this is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV.
Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input".
Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV.

Philips PET710 DVD player shows 'no disc' when disc inserted

I have the same problem with my portable dvd player and found that cleaning the lens of the player using a non-alcolhol wet nap for cleaning eye glasses worked well. I also found the rail that the optics runs along while playing needed a very small amount of silicone greese applied using a Q-tip. You may find that the optic unit may be "stuck" somewhat but can be resolved by gently moving the optic along its guide using a finger.

This changed my unit from not working at all, to working intermittantly sometimes having to vary the player on and off to recongnise the disc. Hope this works

The back light of the monitor might be defective. or the drive signal might not be getting to the screen you will need a schematic, multimeter, and an oscilloscope to troubleshoot this issue. This is how you will have to go about this using the schematic locate the screen test points measure the voltages with the multimeter and look at the signals with the oscilloscope. this will lead to you finding the exact problem.
