Hello, the rewind crank on my fe2 fell apart. The stem is still in but will knot open the back. It is in the up position and there is a film cartridge in the camera that apparently is not allowing me to...

The FE2 is still a great classic camera and many would consider having it repaired. In Canada a service and repair like that would cost about $130.00. I don't know where you are in the world but I'm sure a search locally could produce local camera repair people.

Would like to purchase a dvd tutorial for the nikon d60 on how to use this camera.

First, there's a free online video from Nikon at
http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d60/index.shtml

Nikon also has a DVD for dSLRs in general, normally available at http://www.nikonmall.com/ I'm afraid I can't give you a specific link since they're down for maintenance until tomorrow.

Blue Crane Digital has a nice DVD:

Just inherited a Nikon F100. When the shutter is

Here's the usermanual:
http://safemanuals.com/annexe_INSTRUCTION%20MANUAL_NIKON_F100-_E.htm

on page 101 (Troubleshooting) it mentions the Err message, and the shutter again to release it - According to the guide its a Refer Nikon Service Centre issue.

From how you describe it, it is consistent with there being a problem with lens compatibility. It would be worth checking compatibility (with the chart on pages 32 - 33) - Although if you inherited it "as a unit" I doubt thats the root cause..

Hope this helps

The bottom will fit, but the top cover for an FE2 is quite different than an FM.

You can download the manual from

Your local library should have some nice introductory books on photography.

I have a Nikon FE2 and i switched the lense out from a normal lense to a macro lense, when i shot the picture my went black. so i switch the detachable lense back to the normal lense and its still black!

have you tries changing the battery in the camera. if you try to take a photo with a dead battery it will lock the mirror up. If changing the battery doesn't make the mirror release turn the shutter speed dial to "B" and that should release the mirror

Changing lens

Your Nikon is a SLR which stands for single lens reflex. The reflex part is the way the mirror that lets you look through the lens to frame the picture flips up to let the light go straight to the film. You can change the lens half way through the film roll because the mirror is down while you change the film and blocks light from getting to the film, just as it blocks the light until you push the shutter button. Have fun with your 'new' camera! I use an even older style Nikon FE2. I like my Nikon 55mm macro lens but your newer camera takes autofocus lenses so you'll need advice from someone else for that.

Nikon fa how do i start ? how do i get the film out i need the basics

On all of that series of Nikon SLRs, there is a small black plastic tab under the rewind handle on the left side of the camera. (as looking from the back). The tab needs to be pushed lightly and that will release the rewind shaft so you can pull up on the rewind knob to open the film door.

more info can be found here on Fixya

The FE2/FM2 are very similar in operations and function
