It wouldn't be the temperature outside. Might be the thermostat.

Dryer gets hot on the outside of machine

Clean the lint out of the pipe that goes out side, also the grate on the outside, If that dosent do it take the back off and see where the lint comes out, take that apart and clean the lint out. I have had this problem before and just recently. The dryer has a saftey fuse, when the dryer gets too hot to shut off, thats why your clothes are not drying. 1st try the pipe that goes outside including the end(outside).

Why does the outside of my dryer get so hot? Also, why does it not stop running when i open the door? I have to turn the cycle off and then open the door,

Hi,
The cycling or operating thermostatis often the problem when a dryer runstoo hot, but there are also other things that can make it run hot also.

Here is a tip that I wrote that gives more details about why a clothes dryer will get too hot.

I have a kenmore laundry station, that has a washer on the bottom and a dryer on the top. I replaced the thermal disks, the dryer heated for about 24 hours, then it stopped heating again. Do I need to...

do you mean the thermal fuse?if it popped again it's probably overheating, you need to clean out the vent line and the duct that the lint filter slides into or it will keep doing this,if the vent line is long you can blow it out with a leaf blower, make sure nothing is blocking the outside vent, the fuse is a safety switch that pops when the dryer runs to hot, gotta clean out that dryer once a year

My dryer stopped drying wont get hot what could be wrong?

i'd check for 220 volts fist sometimes a breaker can trip one leg letting it run but no heat, next i check for vent blockage then check thermal fuse, if fuse is blown and vent was clear is blower wheel striped, check temp dosen't go over 185 deg at discharge hose if it's going over change operating thermostat. if fuse is good check thermostats and element for continuity if good need to check for power to all above if only 120 volt bad switch in motor or timer

When it gets hot it stop and then start again when cooled down

This problem is usually caused from restrictions in the vent hose and the unit getting to hot causing the limit control to shut down until it cools. Check your filter, your dryer vent line for obstructions and the outside for pieces of lint plugging it and slowing the air flow. I have found lint build up in the line, at the base of the dryer where the exhaust line connects, and in the exhaust mounted on the outside wall.

Dryer gets hot runs for 10 min, then cools off

Make sure the hot air vent to the outside is clean and has no more than two 90 deg bends in it.
If the vent tubing is restricted, the system will shut off the heat source to prevent a fire.
Make sure you take it apart and thuroughly clean it.
Good luck.

Cleaned vents, dryer gets very hot, shuts off w/o drying clothes

Sounds like a faulty operating thermostat. Only way is to test on a electric griddle that you can set the temperature to 150 deg and measure with a ohm meter.

you can install a higher temperature cycling thermostat. They normally have a 140* cycling thermostat. Make sure heat element is not broken. Some models have a double element hand only half will work. post make and model
