Songs that are in protected WMA format will give you this problem, depending on which music service they were obtained from.

The only real solution is to ONLY download songs that are in true mp3 format. They will not skip forward on you.

I too had the same problem with my GoGear Aria 8GB. But fortunately i got a stange solution. I checked that the problem started coming after updating its firmware. So I suspected that compatibility with new settings might be poor. The problem of stittering songs was general with all the song tracks. However, the songs that came preloaded were playing well.
Later I realized that when I was prompted to backup the contents during firmware update the songs were corrupted during backup & retreiving back to my mp3 player. When i transfered the songs again from the original source the problem was solved. The problem could not be resolved otherwise by repeated reset, repair & even by relieving memory overload.

1. First, check your device setting up on MTP or MSC? Turn on device, go to "settings" , press down or up to find "USB Mode", you can see the check mark at MTP (auto detect) or MSC mode. Change to another usb mode.
2. You have 2 ways to delete songs:
2.1. Delete songs by device: play songs, press down (sub menu) until you meet "delete song", select it and yes
If you delete all items in device: Settings, Format, and yes
2.2. Delete songs by computer: plug device to computer, double click on device icon, Music folder, and delete songs you want. If you don't see songs in there, unplug the device from pc, and then change USB mode, and plug device to pc to delete.
Good luck

The player is not working if excex memory

Are you able to turn the unit on when it isn't connected to the computer? If you can't there is nothing you can do to address the problem. The unit would need to be repaired or replaced.

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

Try formatting the device again using its built-in formatting features.

(WARNING: There is no way you can retrieve your data. Since it has already been formatted, it's assumed that you have backup.)

In your Sony NW-E405 MP3 Player:
1. Press and hold the SEARCH/ MENU button
2. Go to ADVANCED MENU (press the Play/ Stop button)
3. Select FORMAT (press Play/ Stop button)
4. From the opt "Format OK?" select OK (press the Play/ Stop button)
5. Once finished, you can Cancel out.

After these steps, your device should screen out "No Data." From there, you can re-transfer your files.
