Re: japanese language-- i want english

Hi there ! Press 'Main Menu' (first button from the bottom), then go into 'Advanced', which is 2 tools forming a X. In that one, go into the Globe logo which is language. You'll be able to change languages in that one ! Here is a link for the user's manual of this model, which you can print or just browse online, it describes it well : Hope that helps ! cheebster.

Need the operation manuel for my 22inch Gateway monitor can't change operating language

I have a smaller sized Gateway monitor than yours, but I'm sure the monitor buttons (on the front) perform the same functions on all sizes.

You should have eight control buttons on the front of the bezel (as listed from left to right): source, menu, down arrow, up arrow, left arrow, right arrow, auto/set, and on/off buttons.

Press the menu button, the first dialog screen that appears (at least on mine) is the brightness/contrast function. The screen will show the function to be changed, and a very small picture of what screen you have in view.

Once the first function is listed on the screen, press the down arrow to access the other screens (color, tracking and set-up), each having their own little picture indicating what screen you are looking at.

Brightness/contrast - picture of half light, half dark circle
color - RGB picture
tracking - two squares on top on one another slightly off center
set-up- hand pointing left

You want the set-up screen which shows a picture (I think) of a little hand pointing to the left. Once you are in the set-up screen, press the auto/set button and the first line will be highlighted (usually it is the language choice).

Once highlighted, press the right arrow button until your language name appears (i.e., English, Duetsch, Francais, Espanol Italiano, -there is no choice on mine for Japanese, etc.).

Press the menu button again and that should do it.

Brightness controls

Unfortunately, the x2gen company has declared bankruptcy and gone out of business due to legal trouble ( Manuals are no longer available online.

Unless you can find someone who can read the menus for you, or has an old manual laying around, I can pose a couple alternative, albeit tedious, solutions.

Using you can translate your menu... that is, you can type "BRIGHTNESS" in English, and request the Japanese translation. Locate the text in the menu that matches the translation. Tedious, yes, but it would work. To use this for non-arabic based character sets, you will need to install a Japanese font on your system, otherwise the text will return as "?????" question marks (in place of each Japanese character).

Another alternative would be to take a photograph of your menu screen and submit it to a forum to have an online user do the translation for you...

Just some ideas - hopefully you can make some progress...
