Kenmore heavy duty 2 way tumble washing machine

Hello, I am having a problem with the above washing machine.

When the machine is tumbling the clothes during every cycle, there is a scratching noise. Once the wash is complete, the clothes are still soaking wet.

I have a similar problem but instead of scratching I have a bumping noise. I took the back panel off the washing machine and found that there was a chunk that had broken off the outer tub. I tried to epoxy this part back in place but it was pushed back out again. Something in between the drum and tub must be causing this problem. Is it time for a new washer or reasonable to repair this?

You may have a broken inner tub spider. Check for play between the inner drum and the outer tub by moving the inner drum up and down.
If there is excessive play, the spider is broken causing an unbalanced load and therefore no high speed spin can be achieved.

In this case the inner drum would need to be replaced, which means taking the machine almost completely apart. A good tech can do it in about 1.5 hours.

My kenmore heavy duty 2 way tumble washing machine just stops during the regular wash cycle. Once I move the control switch forward a bit it seems to continue, but only for a moment. The electrolux control switch has been replaced.

Hello landlord guy - Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose/pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned, or you have another issue with the door lock assembly or the timer and control board not communicating correctly.

Go to www.repairclinic.com and enter the model. With luck, you will be presented with a list of common replacement parts and may be able to view a generic Kenmore video showing disassembly.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else ;-0(
Good luck,

Likely the cause is grease from a failing rear bearing.

Unfortunately, it's cheaper to buy a new washer than to fix this one. That's pathetic for a washer that's only 8 years old, and completely negates any environmental and economic benefits of buying a front loader.

Hello my Wirlpool washing machine makes a scratching noise when the drum is turning during the wash. The noise disappears however when the washing machine is spinning. Would it be worn out bearings?

You would hear the bearings in the spin cycle if it was them ....it would sound like you are at the airport...you will probably find that a bra wire has caught itself inbetween the drum and the tub and is scratching as it goes around.

If your transport bolts are removed and if the springs or shocks are in good order, make sure the machine is not standing on a tiled floor. No matter what, it will bounce all over the floor then. Place machine on a concrete floor and retry.

Whirlpool washing machine make loud noise after spin cycle quits. Noise continues until cycle winds down. Sounds like a machine gun being fired

Hello, have to tell you that most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping noise during the spin, the load of cloth may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the cloths, then restart the machine. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Thanks
