Ok this means that there is a short circut! the most likely cause is speaker wires touching one another in back of the amp hookups! Check all wires looking for stray strands touching metal or other wires!
I think this will fix ya!..if not come back and we will figure it out!

Your Home Theater has problem in Amp section. Please check speaker wires are connected properly and see its insulation as well. If found fine, Amp Output in Home Theater is bad.

Can i connect dmp-bd871 to a home theater system

It will depend on your home theater system and TV. If your system accepts HDMI in from other devices and HDMI out to the TV, connect an HDMI cable from the blue-ray player to an HDMI input on home theater system. Then connect another HDMI cable between the home theater system and the TV. This will provide the best video and audio experience.

Another option is connect the HDMI cable from the Blue-ray player to the TV. Connect the audio output of the TV to the home theater system. (This will depend on the TV as well as the home theater system. Some TVs have digital audio outputs; others have analog outputs. If your home theater system doesn't have the same input as the TV's output, you would need a converter as well as the digital and analog audio cables. This is an example of one for digital to analog: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=4907 .)

If you do not want to get the best picture from the Blue-ray player and your home theater system has analog audio inputs, you can connect the composite video out to the TV. Then connect the audio outputs from the player to your home theater system. (This means only an SD picture will be provided to your TV.)

Panasonic has the manual for the DMP-BD871 here: service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMPBD871-MUL.PDF .

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the other devices in your entertainment system or their inputs/outputs. Then I can add specific information for your system and any tips for setting up the system.

I have a samsung DVD Home Theater System HT-WX70. My son put a cd copy in the DVD player and PROTECTION flashed on the player and it turned off. I turned the player back on and took the cd out. ...

If it is, the protection message usually meant either a speaker had blown, or more commonly a wire to a speaker had come disconnected or broken/shorted.

Try unplugging the speakers one at a time, and if you have a set of speakers of the same rating to try, try plugging them in as you remove the originals (obviously doesn't need to be done in the setup positions in the room, just have them beside the player to check it works.)

This might then identify which speaker or cable is the problem one for you to replace or repair.

If this is the speaker overload/short mesaage as I think it is and the above doesn't cure it, it would appear the amplifier board has a short somewhere and that's an electronics engineer job time
Hope it helps!

Small glitches with home-burnt DVDs only

Gents,

Not a solution but in case it may help other's understanding with a similar problem, found glitch to be related to the default Chapter-making process within the Panasonic DVD recorder when dubbing a DVD. Default appears to be 5 mins 20 seconds per chapter, i.e. 320 seconds. Glitches from these DVDs are seen regularly on two of my four DVD players at every 32 seconds, i.e. one-tenth of the chapter length. Can't explain why this happens, or why indeed two of the players sail-through this recurring glitch without problem.

Make sure the TV is set to output audio to the digital optical port. Then make sure you have selected the proper output mode on the home theatre. Unplug the optical cable from the back of the home theatre and see if the red laser is on (don't shine it in your eyes! :))

Here is a link for your manual. It will be faster than telling you how to hook it up. Don't be mislead by first numbers you see in the left corner. Should be the correct manual for your home theater system. http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dfr150017/dfr150017_dfu_aen.pdf
