Question about Televison & Video

Sony KP-41T15 Ok I will let you know what changing the picos does for me. Does the service manual show you how to navigate in the service mode and service codes also?

I tried changing the pico's but nothing changed. I learned more about the TV and I found the only way to fix that convergence is through the service menu and it seems to be really difficult. I already made a mess out of it. I really don't know what convergence items to change, If you have any suggestions I'm open to them. I put off working on it for a while but it is still here.

    Thanks

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Did you replace the pico fuses on the G board there are two and usually one will blow when the old ICs fail and just replaceing the two ICs on the D board will usually not fix the issue untill the two pico fuses are checked and the blown one is replaced.

You can try to adjust in service mode but it sounds like you did not do this repair correctly. I would suggest getting instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Sony KP-41T15

I just called over there to speak with sonnt who said check the following fusible resistors on the D Board R1643,R1644,R1645, R1646,R1647,and R1648. They blow fastr when you have a convergence issue. There are all 0.1 ohm 1/6 watt resistors.
Also he mentioned they do have the manual its just not listed, but if you email them they will list it for you.

Convergence Problem

most likely cause is one of the 3.5 amp picos have blown when the old Ics failed. You can get replacement picos at the following link, and they also have the service manual which will explain how to adjust the colors through the service manual. Here is the link.

Sony KP 51WS510 convergence problem

You should get service manual and new ohm meter to check parts.
If tools are no good, results will not be good in any case.

I do not compromise on tools quality.

D board replacement is so early decision. As I told you, +22 and -22 should be available in D board. If such voltages are not there, how can convergence ICs carry out the job?

Please have service manual on any online manual store and check power supply area, why +22 and -22 are not being supplied.

Pico fuses should be checked out of board or at least one pin should be unsold to test fuse.
In circuit test of fuse is not good idea and can misguide you with wrong results.

Service mode for convergence

You enter the service menu by using the remote. Press DISPLAY, 5, VOL+, POWER in rapid succession. Once the screen appears, you should notice green letters and numbers at the top of the screen. Your remote acts as a navigation tool to allow you to select and change values. Keys 1 and 4 change the Item, keys 2 and 5 change the Category, and keys 3 and 6 change the Value. MUTE enters the write function, and ENTER executes it. Power exits the service menu. Keep in mind that while in the convergence mode, the keys have different functions, which we'll get to in due time. The service manual will also have this information.
