Question about Epson Stylus CX3810 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Epson CX3810 prints black but won't print colors

Refurbished CX3810 right out of box won't print in color although utility shows that color cartridges are full.  This printer isn't on warranty any longer because it sat in its box in the garage for about 3 years before I opened it because I made a mistake and it isn't Mac compatible.  Ink came with it and had not been installed until now.  Have tried nozzle check, which shows only black is printing, as well as repeated nozzle cleaning.  No change after using up most of the black cartridge in this pursuit.

    Sorry to take so long to get back to you - the students thought it would be amusing to inject Gorilla Glue into all the locks at the high school where I teach and I was unable to get my classroom door open to retrieve the printer until today.  Tried your solution this evening and found all was on the right settings to start with so I am still unable to print anything except black.  I thank you for your help and ask that you send any other ideas you have, please.  This is perplexing!

    Darn, changing the color inks didn't change anything either - still printing only black!

    P.S. - I just realized you mentioned the color "cartridge" not "cartridges", plural.  I have individual color cartridges in this printer - cyan, magenta and yellow - if this makes a difference.

    Didn't hear back from you after changing the colored inks failed to help.  Any more ideas?  I hate to throw out a brand new printer!  Thanks for your help.

    The yellow ink stopped printing. I changed the yellow cartige 3 times with new ones, and still no yellow. Is there a way to remove the "base" or "sled" that holds the color cartriges?

Hi, I am assuming your PC is relatively new. You have had a working printer, installed the new printer and ran the installation c.d. If you have marked the new printer.... (go to programs, control panel, printer and open) when open...note the little check on one of the icons. Is your new printer the default printer? To change...right click over the icon, look for the "Set as default printer". Left click this. for color.....when you place your cursor over the new icon....right click. The box which opens will show printer preferences. Left click this. When this box opens, go to the color tab. Left click this. Look to see if printer is in Color options or Grayscale. G.S. will prevent this new printer from color access.

    Hi, again. I am sorry this didn't fix it. However, I failed to ask if you used the enclosed print cartridges. If you did, know that the division in the primary color cartridge supplies less ink of each. Therefore, it may be assumed that they have dried up. Have you tried replacing the color cartridge with a new one? Hope this is it. If not let us know and we'll dig out the book and do some more research. When you click on 'print', the screen that appears should show a button for printiung preferences- click on it, and the next screen should have a box labeled, 'print color photos in black & white'.
Put a check in this box, and you should be all set-

Would a CX3810 work with only 1 black ink cartridge?

all epson type need all catridge put in a head, if you want use black only, you can buy ciss sistem

My Epson CX3810 is set to BLACK ONLY, but I have a prob w/colors

dear friend

this is fault of the technology of Epson CX3810

it uses little bi of color ink everytime it prints black even though you have chosen use only black cartridges

Epson cx3810 printing blank copies

I had the same problem and had to clean the nozzle tubes. After cleaning the tubes, printer worked great again.

Black and white not printing correctly, color is fine

If you are not using Epson ink, your printer will do this. Epson printers hate knock-off ink. Always use Epson ink if you want to keep your printer working properly. To solve the problem you are having, try cleaning the ink tubes. Make sure you re-install them properly. Hope this helps. Charlene

I have a epson stylus printer C65 series. I ran out of black ink so i changed the ink cartridge and it will only print colour not black now.

I have an Epson stylus 6000 series, second hand but was working just fine. I changed the ink cartridges and now the color won't print. Utilities shows all cartridges full, but only black and pale green-blue print. While it was printing color it was drinking the ink, but that's another story.

Epson Stylus CX3810 replace ink box. will not let me print.

I'm sorry to say, but I just spoke to epson and the printer will not print unless all cartridges have ink. The black ink only option is only used to extend the life of color cartriges. Just another way for them to get you to buy things you don't need.
