SOURCE: My samsung SCD 103 for

This is a problem with the tape transport mechanism, and unfortunately, the tape mech has to usually be changed out, as stated in the following web blog:
http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/8691/209090.html
I'm thinking it's due to wear on various parts, which makes an easy repair impossible.
Wish I had better news, but you can shoot for one on ebay with a broken LCD, etc., and maybe get it working yourself.

My samsung vp-d371w dv cam wont charge. when plugged in to the charger the charging light does not come on neither does the battery icon change. however when plugged into the charger the cam turns itself...

Dirty Contacts

On the edge of your battery and inside your camera's battery compartment you'll find several small metal bits. These are known as contacts, and as the name implies, they enable the transfer of energy from the battery to your digital camera. Over time and with regular usage, the contacts can accumulate skin oils, dirt and metal residue, resulting in poor energy transfer between battery and camera or charging dock and battery. Clean all metal contacts of visible debris using a microfiber cloth. For tougher corrosion, use the eraser at the end of a pencil.

Faulty Charger

Before you run out to replace your camera's battery, plug in your charger without the battery mounted. On most models, a red or amber light will appear indicating that it's ready to accept a battery for charging. If the light doesn't appear, it indicates a faulty charger. Ensure that the power cord is fully connected to the back of the charger, and then inspect it for any tears, fraying or other damage. To purchase a replacement charger, visit the place of purchase or contact the manufacturer.

Corroded Contacts

Leaving your camera untouched for a long while with its battery inside is a recipe for corrosion. Over time, leakage from the inside of the battery can dry and harden onto the contacts of both the battery and the camera. Though light corrosion can be removed in the same way as oil and dirt residue, severe corrosion may cause permanent damage to the metal. Buff the corrosion away with a small piece of aluminum foil and a drop of vinegar. If this doesn't work, the battery will require replacement.

Extreme Temperatures

Placing your battery on the charger after a night near an open window or an afternoon in a hot car will usually yield a poor charge, even if the charger indicates that the unit is full. Once placed inside the camera, it will deplete quickly after light use. Storing your camera or battery in extremely hot or cold temperatures will lessen the unit's energy discharge over time. Always store your battery in a dry, relatively cool area to protect your battery's delicate internal parts. If it has recently been exposed to extreme temperatures, let it warm or cool to room temperature before charging.

Exhausted Battery

If you're an avid photographer and have been relying upon the same battery for several years, chances are your unit is nearing exhaustion. Most lithium-ion units become exhausted after thousands of cycles. When placed on the charger, the indicator light may remain red or amber, which means that it's not recognizing the battery. It may also display a green light after a very short time, indicating a full charge. However, the battery will still deplete rapidly if inserted in the camera. Consult your manufacturer or visit a battery retailer to purchase a replacement unit.

My glowbouy flashes green and red...what does this mean

According to the owners manual for these swimming pool lights, this is what each colored indicator means. Hope this helps.

Solid green
The battery pack is fully charged.
Slow flashing green
The battery pack is almost fully charged.
Slow flashing yellow
The battery pack is half charged.
Medium flashing yellow
The battery pack is less than half charged.
Fast flashing yellow
The battery pack has almost no charge.
Fast flashing red
A charging error has occurred and the light should be unplugged and then plugged back in. If the Fast Flashing Red persists after several attempts, the battery condition is questionable.

Also in the trouble shooting guide, it mentions this:

Problem: Red Indicator Light Is Flashing While Charging

Solution:
A red flashing indicator light when charging indicates a selftest
error condition. Unplug the product and plug it in again.
Try this several times; if the indicator light continues to flash
red, unplug the GlowBuoy and take it to an authorized service
depot.

I have a Samsung P800 camera. I'm currently trying to charge it but the light on the charger chord is flashing orange and it doesn't seem to be charging. Please help.

Ok. I have the samsung l200 but the cameras are very similar. I had the issue as well. When I plug it in it flashes red once, green once, then orange consistently. It would not charge the battery.

The fix was really quite unexpected. I did two things not sure which fixed it.

1. slide the cable into the camera slowly until the light turned red once, then pulled it gently in and out a few times.
2. as i plugged it in, I tried to angle the plug side to side sliding it to the left and right on a diagonal. I was hoping the pins would be touched differently when I did this which might reset something.

not sure which of these two things corrected the problem, but the camera is now charging.

When I plug the camera in to charge I get a flashing red light indicating a charge error. The camera is only 6 months old. Why won't it charge?

Hi,I just found a soultion on another website and it appears to have worked for me.Apparently the battery loses it memory when fully discharged,to fix this take a 9v battery and place the terminals + to + and - to - with the camera battery for 30 seconds or so then put the battery back in the camera and charge as normal.I just did this and it seems to be charging and the red light is solid.hope this helps.

Digimax i5 problem charging battery

Hello,
■ Charging LED

Charging LED
Red LED is on = Being charged
Red LED is blinking = Charging error
Green LED is on = Charging is complete

● If the charge indicator blinks as red, it indicates a battery charging error.
- The battery is not properly inserted
- The terminals of battery are dirty or damaged
If the battery is inserted properly and the charge indicator continues to blink, contact the
nearest Samsung Camera Service Center.

If the charging LED doesn't turn to green could mean a signal that the battery is bad or can't charge 100% anymore = too old, needs a new battery. Hope this helps.

Charger red lite flashing. Camera comes on for one second and shuts off

Hello,
Here's a copy from the owners manual:
■ Charging LED
Red LED is on = Being charged
Red LED is blinking = Charging error
Green LED is on = Carging is complete

● If the charge indicator blinks as red, it indicates a battery charging error.
- The battery is not properly inserted
- The terminals of battery are dirty or damaged
If the battery is inserted properly and the charge indicator continues to blink, contact the
nearest Samsung Camera Service Center.

Another charging error is when the batteries are so depleted, they won't charge up to 100% anymore = red light doesn't go out and remains on for too long, means get a new battery.
