Question about Amana NDE2330AY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

NO HEAT, RUNS LOAD, SMEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING

Amana electric dryer recently started running for an extended period of time without heating up & smells like some thing is burning.

I have removed the face and pulled the heating coils out - they do not look burned the heater coil are still intact.

Could someone let me know how to trouble shoot if the problem resides with the element.

I am capable of changing the parts myself, i simply need to identify which parts to change. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a frigidare dryer 5-6 years old. Recently, started smelling like something electrical is burning. If I hold down the start button the motor will turn the drum slowly and the burning smell returns....

Check for vent blockages! Overheating may be a serious issue and fire hazzard. A slow moving drum could mean a bad traction belt, jammed mechanical part or the motor is not spinning at a proper RPM which may indicate motor damage also. The electrical burning is a serious issue also and a fire hazzard. Dryers need periodical cleaning to remove excess lint, dust and debris. Lack of cleaning causes the dryer to work harder and run hotter. Excessive heat shortens the life of many parts such as belts, bearings, electronics, wiring, etc...

Dryer will not start

It is very likely that the dryers heating element is burned out, that would be the 1st thing I'd test.

Amana 7200 dryer, runs but has no while running.

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

This weekend, dryer would stay on for an extended period of time but the clothes weren't drying.

These are pretty simple machines. Look for an air restriction which could be causing the machine to malfunction. Then remove the bottom panel and get the heating element out. Check for braks in the wire. Manual and more here

Dryer runs but no heat

lean the exhaust vent tubes thoroughly and try again to heat up
a sensor in your dryer will shut down the heat if lint build up is present

Dryer is not heating up to dry clothes

The spark ignitor maybe at fault. Listen for the clicking noise upon starting it up the first 30 seconds it runs. If not heard it is in need of a replacement

Put clothes in, set the timer, push the start button and it makes a hum like it is trying to start but does not start and then there is a funny smell coming from the dryer. Is the motor burning/burned up...

it could be the belt slipping, the motor going bad, the motor start cap going out the drum bearing or motor bearings dried out causing over heating of unit causing electrical smell, hard to give a ball-park,anywhere from $50 to $300 for repairs depending parts required and labor/time
