My washer from Sears does not seem to be spinning correctly. On rare occasion, it doesn't spin at all, but often it seems not to spin right or fast enough or something because the clothes are still wetter than they should be. Thanks, Ronnie

If so see if the machine will complete a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket. Set the Spinsetting to Spin/Hang dry seting and start the cycle.It should take about 10 min complete.Does the Spin Only cycle complete with no clothes in the wash basket?

Does your machine seem to take longer than normal to fill with water?
Does the machine increase the time during the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle?
Are there any error codes to the LED display such as dC or uC?
Do you want to work toward a DIY fix?If not maybe we can get a solid feel for the issue that will help you in the decision process to bring in a repair company or replace.
So I can better understand the issue can you start a Quick Wash cycle with Soil and Spin settings set to lowest setting and if you could place a couple of bath towels in the wash basket for a load.
I want to see if the machine will go thru the Wash, Rinse and Spin cycle within the 27 to 29 min time of a Quick Wash cycle.I want to see if the machine is increasing Washer Cycle time in the Spin Cycle of the Wash Cycle.
You should enter the Rinse Cycle at the 20 min mark on the LED display.
You should enter the Spin Cycle at the 10 min mark on the LED display.
Watch the cycle and see if you have similar times as I do.Let me know if the washer has any off balance issues as it enters into the Spin Cycle…..Rich

You will need the Service Manual for support.I’m an owner like you with a solid repair skills on the machine and will try to help you DIY the repair if we can ID the issue through troubleshooting. Do you have this condition in all wash cycles?Will a Quick Wash cycle complete? Do you see the Cycle Status LED ever indicate the machine has moved to the Spin Cycle during the wash cycle? This could be a Control Board failure but we need to troubleshoot. I want to make sure the Wash basket will spin up with a Spin Only cycle selection.Can you select a Spin Only cycle with a empty wash basket.I would release the washer top so you can observe this test.I want to rule out a broken Clutch large wrap spring. Page 33 of the Service Manual will show you how to release the washer top from the base.In Spin Only cycle raise the top just enough to make sure the wash basket is rotating Counter Clock Wise – CCW with the Spin Only cycle selected and operated. If the above test doesn’t indicate an issue I would like you to try the Quick Service Cycle test on page 15 of the Service Manual and see if your FAV6800A will pass that test with no clothes in the washer.When you put the machine in Service Mode press and hold simultaneously the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys until the machine beeps and the LED display reads 00. Then press Wash/Rinse Temp to start Quick Service Cycle test.Did the test complete with a PA indication in the display?It will only display the PA code for a few seconds.End of cycle will beep washer will unlock and Cycle Status LED will indicate complete. Hello djlampl, With the lowest spin cycle setting I enter spin cycle in Quick Wash around the 21 minute mark.But first question is do you hear the grinding noise with the tumblers rotating during the wash/agitate cycle? If you start a spin only cycle do you hear the grinding noise? Does the washer error code out with an error code to the display?Codes such as dC, uC, Lr?, I assume the machine type is a FAV6800AW is that correct? The transmission in this machine is worn and is not shifting correctly. Understand that after the aggitate cycle, this machine should go into drain cycle without spinning and it should drain for about 1 minute. Then it should kick into spin cycle after it has emptied all the water. What is happening is it is (like skipping) the drain cycle and going directly into spin with water still in it,,, so the spin is slow as it is trying to empty and spin at the same time,,, thus the clothes do not spin out correctly,,, when you reset the spin, you actually spin all the water out the second time around.
