I unplugged the router and plugged the modem into back into the harddrive to contact you..

My internet works fine if not going thru the router. That is why I think I may be doing something wrong.. that is what I get for not buying a new router..I got it from where I work from the IT person

    Bad idea maybe??

Hey there, Now if all lights are flashing, and TRUST ME...I HAVE HAD SOME FUN WITH MINE AS OF LATE ( lol ).
Do a hard reset, which means, leave it plugged into the wall, and while its having its fun flashing away, turn it DOWN, you may also do the same to your Modem, wait about 30 seconds .......*waiting*........after all of this FUN waiting process. * I recommend turning down the PC...But you don't need to * power on first the modem, once turned on, you might need to manually power it off, basically make sure that all the lights get lite. Then once that has been done, replug the router, give sometime * and if you turned off your PC, while awaiting for your router to full light up, this would be a perfect time to start turning on you PC *
Once this has all been done, * please make sure that everything is plugged in properly ** that means Ethernet to the PC's Ethernet jack ** * Go to your wireless connections, make sure that everything shows some movement, FYI you might require to decrease your firewall * if using Windows OS * Everything should run smoothly, Let me know how it goes,
Thanks
Justin

That is highly viewed, Maybe the reason he sold it to you, is because the Ports are having issues, I normally don't see IT giving away parts....unless there is SOMETHING wrong with it, or unless they are going out with the old, in with the new, I would recommend you speak with the person that has sold you it, and inquire more about with the, because if (s)he sold you a "lemon" get your money back, and just go to Wal-Mart or any cheap store, and they normally run between $40-69.99
    Thanks, Justin

How do i connect to apples time machine?

You can manually configure the time machine to accept wireless signal from the router or extender. If you setup WEP on the router or extender, make sure you setup WEP on the time machine as well.
For instructions in setting up wireless settings of Time Capsule click on this link -->>

Hope this works for you.

How to connect a router

It depends on the router but how I did it is
1. Connect the ethernet cable to the router, then the cable that came with the router to the router with one end, then plug the other end into the computer.
2. There should be a disk that you have to install which is the firmware for the router. Once this is done, it will automatically update from now on.
3. It should set up itself!

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
Good Luck

When i try and set up my wireless router it tells me the router is not detected

Please ensure that you have the router connected via the blue cable directly to your computer's ethernet port. You should be able to interface into your router's config page by typing in 192.168.1.1 in the web browser expolorer bar. Hope this helps, however, please do get back to me should there be anything else. Thanks.
