hi what you will have to do is make sure you have swapped over from the laptop monitor to the acer monitor, as you do not say what laptop it is, i will give you an example of what you have to press to do this, if you look on your laptop keyboard there is a key that has FN on it, normally on left hand side at bottom of keys ( but could be anywhere as well ) then look at the F keys at the top, and see if you have either a key with 2 monitors on it, or a picture of a side on laptop and a face on monitor this is normally key F4, it also could be F3, dependent on the laptop make, all you have to do is press FN key keeping it pressed and then press the ( either ) F4 or F3 key, or what ever key that has the monitor icons on it, this will then switch to the main monitor and disable the laptop monitor, when you want to Finnish using the external monitor, just press the keys again in that order and it will go back to normal...hope this helps

My monitor has kicked into sleep mode and won't "wake up".

Unplug all the Cables from Compaq Presario 5103 CL and leave the Keyboard, mouse and monitor cable pluged in.

Now make sure the power cable of the monitor should be pluged in and the power cable of the tower should be pluged in.

Now to check if the montor is fine just unplug the video cable only which will show no input signal on the screen. If it shows this signal the monitor is fine. Plug back in the video cable.

If the monitor is going to sleep mode it might be possible that the old computer ( Compaq Presario 5103 CL ) is in stand by mode. hit any key on the keyboard and it should come back .

If it is not in the stand by mode then do one thing. Check the same monitor with the new computer. If it is working. Perfect ..!

Do one thing now ..!

Unplug all the cables from your old system and then press the power button for 30 sec and let it go. Now plug the keyboard, mouse and the monitor try again.
If it works Perfect. If not ..!

Then you need to open the tower and check on the processor FAN is it running..? If its not running you will not get the display as the fan is responsible for the display on the screen. Otherwise...!

Check the Tower possibly the Tower is not getting the power.

Try these steps and let me know If it works

I have connected my microtek lcd monitor to my dell laptop computer. the monitor is plugged into electric outlet. the green light on the front of the monitor blinks. and i get a report of "no signal" but...

Have you tried pluging in the monitor in to the laptop before even starting the computer or Putting the computer in to "Stand by" then pluging in the monitor and then bringing the laptop out of "Stand by" or yet when you do have the computer on with the monitor pluged in, try "Fn" and a button hat has like two screens on it with a small bar in between them? All these should work.

Lines on the Screen, shut down and will not turn back on

Hi, the issue may with the LCD panel. I work in DELL and have been getting lot of issues like this. It's called vertical line defects.. You can connect and external monitor and press Fn and F8 to toggle the display over to the Monitor. If the display is fine, replace the LCD screen. If the system is under wrranty, call Dell tech support and get a replacement or else call 800-288-4410 (out of warranty repair) department to send your laptop for repair. If the display is the same on the monitor, then the video card/Motherboard has to be replaced.

If this information is succesfull, then please rate!!

Black screen, White blinking line on bottom of Monitor

During the move was your laptop dropped or bumped ? If so you might of unseated the video adapter from your laptop. Have you tried another monitor? I wouldnt rule the monitor as the problem. Try another monitor. If you have more questions or problems feel free to get back to me and I will do my best to talk you through a solution.
