Question about RCA RT2760 System

RCA RT2870 USB won't allow playlists or let me skip folders

When I load 4 folders with 10 mp3s in each folder from my PC to the USB Flash stick device, and then plug it into the RCA RT2870 USB plug, and select "USB mode", it reads the USB device as "F4 T40" - so that means 4 folders (the "F'), and 40 songs total (the "T").

My question is how do I get to F3 (or Folder 3) without having to press the remote control "skip button" 20 times in order to get to song #21 (i.e. the first song in Folder 3?)

Do I need an mp3 player to do this? And if so, what mp3 player is compatible? I already tried my Ipod Nano, and it wasn't compatible for the USB mode. I tried running it through the "line-in" Mode and it sounded disappointingly bad.

Thanks for any help.

Same thing here. The only partial solution I've found is to dump all the songs into one folder and use "random", like an Ipod Shuffle. But I'd really like to be able to choose songs by their name.

I have this same system and it looks like the USB playback is lacking this feature, of switching folders. A workaround is to use shuffle play to jump to one of the last songs in the first folder, then turn off shuffle and skip forward a few songs until you get into the next folder....and so on. Not very good, but for this price I was glad to have USB playback.
Some generic MP3 players will work in the USB port, but they play exactly the same as a USB drive. SO no real solution for this.

That's because a USB turntable is a bit higher up the compexity foodchain than a USB drive with files already on it. The RT doesn't support anything but USB devices that mimic storage devices.

Is your USB flash drive formatted with NTFS? Most consumer devices that is USB enabled aren't able to read NTFS-formatted drives. Try with a FAT32-formatted drive if you have one, or you could backup the drive and then format it in Windows as FAT32. (Right click the drive and choose format, then choose FAT32 as filesystem)

RCA RT2870 home theater system 'welcome' screen

Well, I just returned the unit. RCA replied with the following solution:
Let the unit sit with the AC power cord out of the wall for a couple of
hours. Then hit the power button 10-15 times (with the AC power cord still
out of the wall socket!) and then try again.
