Trouble downloading photoshop 7.0 onto MBP

I am having trouble downloading Photoshop 7.0 onto my MacBook Pro.  The Photoshop is on a disc.  When I insert it into the MBP it is recognized and named ''Photoshop'' however it does not immediately begin the installation process.  If I click on the disk and view it in a finder window, all of the files seem incompatible.  Many of the files are saved as ''unix executable file.''  I am unable to open or download anything.  If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, Photoshop 7 is not compatible with Intel Macs. You will need to upgrade to a more recent edition (CS/2/3/4).

My 2001 MacBook Pro fans run almost constantly, while my previous 2009 MacBook Pro fans seldom ran. Why is that?

I had to chuckle, because many MBP users actively seek out applications to make the fans run more often and more vigorously. It seems that early models of MBP would quietly cook themselves to an early demise.

You should follow Ted James\' advice regardless - it\'s easy to do and worth doing whether that\'s your problem or not. However, I had a similar problem with my MBP and found that it was a browser plug-in that was the CPU and running the system hot. If it\'s a software package making your mac run hot, that\'s a little more tedious to troubleshoot, but still pretty simple. First - try this simple step: While your mac is running the fans (misbehaving) start the Activity Monitor app - which is in your Utilities folder. If you prefer to use LauchPad to start applications, then you may need to look for "other" start typing "activity" in the search box, b/c the utilities are not shown by that name in some newer OS X releases. Once Activity monitor is running, select the CPU "tab" at the top or bottom of the app. Now you should be able to see how busy your system is in a moving graphic at the bottom center of the app. If your CPU is running at nearly full capacity, have a look at the column called % CPU. If the process name a the top of the list is contributing the majority of your % CPU, then that is the candidate for an errant application overheating your Mac. I\'ve attached a screen shot of Activity Monitor working on a quite system with almost no activity.

It should be obvious, but the next thing to try is to exit or kill that application and see if that allows the fans to spin down.

Hope that helps.

Just got a MacBook Pro and it won't recognize my Insignia mp3 player. Is it possible to download to it from a Mac?

It is amazing to me when people say that the Mac "just works" and Windows is ****. And then they complete the sentence with the fact that the Mac is not compatible with or won't play some third party software or device as we see above. Believe me I know all to well the problems with Windows. But right now I can't get my mac to recognize my MP3 player either and I have had plenty of issues where my MBP locks up and I have to forcefully quit an app.

Trouble shooting new os 10.4 tiger installation on mac pro

You sure you got the original gray label install discs for this computer? Sometimes people stick gray discs in with the computers and they are not specific for that model.  The Macbook Pro ships with Tiger 10.4.6
Borrow a black label Tiger retail disc from someone and install your OS that way.
