I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 OS. Why won't it let me download Dictionary Boss?

I have been trying to download Dictionary Boss toolbar. it gets to the point where it asks me if i want to RUN. i click on RUN and after a while it says: SECURITY CHECK IN PROGRESS. after that it asks me again if i want to RUN and i click on RUN and nothing happens. can someone pls. help me get this toolbar downloaded. Thanks.

What happens if you save the file instead of clicking RUN? Put it on your desktop and when it's finished downloading, close IE and double click the downloaded file

SOURCE: can't get to disk defragment my laptop

Try using the FSUTIL DIRTY command to query and set the dirty bit on the volume. This essentially tells Windows that there is a file system error on the volume and it needs to run chkdsk next time.

At the command prompt, type FSUTIL DIRTY QUERY C: (or whatever your drive letter is) and get the status
Then type FSUTIL DIRTY SET C: (this sets the dirty bit).
Reboot. Chkdsk should run properly and reset the dirty bit automatically.

As for defragmentation, check out Diskeeper 2008. It's by far the best defragmenter available (Diskeeper invented the defragger for Windows!). No, it's not free, but you can get free trial versions from the Diskeeper site http://www.diskeeper.com

make sure you download the one for your operating system

If you want to reformat to factory condition, then press Ctrl + F11 at start-up when the blue bar comes up with "Dell.com" on it. If you miss it then just let it start up, then restart and try again. If it still does not work, press F12 at startup and select recovery option. Please note, if you have deleted the Dell Recovery Partition this will not work for you. You will need to reformat by inserting your Operating System CD at Startup and booting from that (F12).

Recently a put windows 7 on my latitude d610 only problems I had were incompat. Drivers (wifi, sound, graphics.) all were fixed with googling those drivers with windows 7 because this hardware is not compatible with 7 but seeing as it is a restart thing,

Check the drivers u have installed try to see if any need updating or are no compat.

If you can tell me what the Os do you use, it could be must better.

On XP you can try this:
Boot computer and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you See Windows welcome screen / login screen. It'll show classic login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press Enter and you should be able to login Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

On Win 7 or Vista:
Ctrl+Alt+Delete won't work, you have to use some windows password reset tool. I recommend Windows Password Reset.

I changed my username now my password won't work this is on another computer.It ia a dell windows 7.It don't have a place for a disk

What OS are you having?

On XP you can try this:

On Win 7 or Vista:
Ctrl+Alt+Delete won't work, you have to use some windows password recovery software. I recommend Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 .

This computer uses the generic driver for Windows XP and Windows 7 and thus there's no need to install a driver. If you need to re-install the Webcam driver, try to do the following:

For Windows XP / 7
1. Press the Windows Key+R on the keyboard (the windows key looks like this

).
2. Type devmgmt.msc then press Enter.

3. Expand Imaging Devices, right click on your camera and choose Update Driver Software

4. Click Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software

If this doesn't work, I recommend doing a System Restore (if it was working a few days or weeks ago, step by step guide here) or a System Recovery (if you don't mind starting from scratch - you need to press F8 simultaneously during boot-up > choose Repair Your Computer and click on your account > Choose Dell Factory Image Restore).

When downloading a printer driver from HP you will need to ensure that you are selecting the correct OS (eg. Windows 7) and the appropriate version (eg. 64 or 32 bit operating system). These drivers are different and using one on the other will not work.
Windows XP drivers also will not work properly in a Windows 7 environment and the majority of Windows XP drivers are 32-Bit.

After downloading Win 7 on my dell studio 1535, my microphones stopped working. My webcam also tells me I need to download video chat. I've downloaded it but it won't upload.

Go to the Dell Download area ( http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=STUDIO1535&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= ) and choose the drivers you need. This laptop is not officially supported under Windows 7, so you will have to try the drivers for the Vista version. These often work, but not always.
