Question about SimpleTech Signature Mini 160GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Dark Blue Blueberry
Hi, I have a SimpleTech external HD, 160GB, and it use to work ok, but today, I was recording some files on it, and my HD fall down from my bed to the floor, I try to use it again, but never works again.
When you turn it on, the Hd seems to work as usually, but then just sounds a CLICK... and the Laptop dont recognize it...
what can I do?
Hey! i was having the same problem, but it all seemed to be fine after i opened the case up... what you see inside is a hard drive connected to a small circuit board used to make that hard drive interface with the computer. basically what happened with mine, and probably yours was that the hard drive slipped out of the socket on that circuit board- the drop it took was probably JUST enough to make that happen, given that there's some room inside the case for it to slide a little.
if you don't mind potentially voiding your warranty, i'd suggest you do what i did:
- keep the drive unplugged from everything
- peel off the sticker underneath to access the screws
- slide the hard drive back into the socket on the little green board where the USB sockets are
- close it back up and test it out.
this worked just fine for me, and i hope it works for you too! it also saved what might have been ****-loads of money taking it to a recovery specialist :D

The hard disk is physically damaged and you need to take it to a data recovery center. Ask some PC tech if they know of one close by or search on google or lookup in the yellow pages.
