I have reinstalled all my codec's, my soundcard (SoundMAX), my WMP and every song even on the internet sound is skipping like a scratched cd!
I have tried iTunes, VLC player and it still skips! Not sure what else to do!
Can someone help?
Sound skips on start-up sound and any tone or sound that comes through the speakers. I have had the cpu in for repair of this problem and I was told it was a virus. I purchased Webroot following servicing/cleaning on the advice of the tech. The sound skip problem has returned even though I have been diligent about running Webroot. I have visited the dell site for updated driver... still no improvement. Help.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Hello, I've a Compaq NC6000 laptop, and that doesn't show a soundcard either, aswell as the Audio Codecs and Legacy Audio Drivers, it shows a 'SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio'. There's an audio mute switch on the front panel, next to the vol up/down switches on mine. Have you taken a look at the hp support pages for your laptop? If not, try
and answer the country question.
Has it ever worked? If you've recently reinstalled the OS maybe you need to install the chipset drivers, etc....they're also available to download from the support website.
Do you have skipping on every DVD/CD you burn? If so, then you're probably experiencing what's called 'buffer underrun'. When that happens, the burner writes faster than the computer can send it information, resulting in skipping. In the program you use, look for the 'burn options' and change the speed from 'automatic' to a manual, slower setting. That should fix your problem.
First of all make sure your internet speed is right. Make sure no third party program is running in the background which is taking up CPU resources. You can also download DVD decoder like Klite codec free from www.download.com and reinstall the flash player from www.adobe.com
Hey, sorry you havn't received a solution for your m:robe till now, you've probably already fixed the problem. But if not, I'd suggest taking it back to the store that you bought it from, then they can send it back to the 'Customer support centre'. I had the exact problem happen to me and I just had it sent away, it came back fine. Hope that helps:)
