Question about Insignia Digital-to-Analog Converter for Analog TVs

1 Answer

After connecting Insignia converter box to TV, there is no sound.

I have just connected my old Toshiba TV/VCR set to my new Insignia Digital Converter box using the RF cord. (There is no place to use the red, yellow and white cords.). The picture is fantastic, but there is no sound for any station. Any advice?

Yes I also have same problem with the Insignia converter box NS-DXA1-APT. I tried to connect with a Zenith, Toshiba
and Emerson TV. All receive digital image but no sound.

How do I hook up my old VCR to an insignia tv?

You will need a converter to record onto a VCR. I can't remember the when the FCC require VCR to have digital, but I know yours old enough it has an analog tuner. Take your antenna connection to the in on the converter box, then you can take the out from the converter box to the in on the vcr and finally take the out to tv to the tv. To record you have to have the vcr on 3 or 4 and use the converter box to do the channel changing.

Another way would be take the in to the converter and use RCA cables to the line in on the vcr, and line out to the to the tv. This will give you stereo sound.

Connecting a toshiba sd-v392 to an old analog tv

Make sure your menu settings are correct audio outputs may have a setting for digital or analog sound output check that these are set up to analog or stereo output .Also try hooking the sound up direct to a stereo system or amp to be sure you have output! Also you may not be able to get your sound thru the convertor box!! Because the convertor is a reciever of digital signals not a line amp. for audio !! Hope this helps11 AAAAAAAAAAAAAE!!!! WHAT IS THE CORRECT WAY TO SET-UP TV, VCR, DVD, & DIGITAL CONVERTER BOX?

Connect the antenna to the converter box. Connect the output of the converter box to the vcr. Connect the output of the vcr to the tv. Connect the dvd to the component input (Red-White-Yellow) of the tv (if there is one. If not then connect the dvd to the component input of the vcr.
With this arrangement you will be able to tape programs on the vcr if you want. If the vcr is not on the signal from the converter box will pass through to the tv.

I have a new digital tv but can't get my vcr/dvd player recorder to work. Can I use the converter box on a digital tv? will it work to record and play.

The output connection from the VCR/DVD needs to be different for the new digital TV. Instead of using the RF output from the VCR, use the video and audio outputs and connect them to the video and audio inputs on the digital TV. When you want to watch the VCR, select "video in" on the TV. The digital converter box should be hooked to the input of the VCR so you can record programs off-air.

Sound problems with recording to vcr using converter box

If your TV has no scart connection, no HDMI connection, then to be honest I would get a new set. There are plenty of good second hand models around, which will be better than your old set and come with a digital tuner built in.
As for the VCR, that should have a scart socket and so should the converter box. Once connected via the scart socket you should be be able to record the shows easily. If the converter box comes with a volume control, you might need to set that up to get it right. If the VCR has two scart sockets use the second one to connect the box. Use the first to connect to the TV for viewing your recordings only.
If it has only one scart, then look around on Amazon for one of these scart switching boxers.

Hook up antenna to converter box then from that out to the vcr's input (red, white, yellow connections are better than coaxial).

Need to hook up dvd/vcr combo with converter box

Connect your rabbit ears to the Insignia. Connect the Insignia to the antenna input on the "cvd/vcr combo". Now turn on the television to show the "cvd/vcr combo".

The Insignia simply goes between your antenna and your television. In your case you also have a vcr so if you want the VCR to be able to play and record digital stations you will need the Insignia between the vcr and the antenna.
