Menu pops up by itself and scrolls though ,changes every setting on it's on. how do i stop it?
SOURCE: my computer keeps scrolling downward
I had a C600 do the same thing. It kept happening but I got some control over it by blowing around the edges of the touchpad with canned air and then cleaning the touchpad agressively with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a soft lint free cloth. If that makes a noticeable difference then we are on the right track. If the problem becomes unmanageable touchpad replacement may be in order. Let me know if this helps. If you need further solutions I will research further and post as data becomes available.

Unplug your device for about 30 minutes to let the circuitry reset itself.
If it works normally after that, it means a hardware part(s) is overheating inside, more likely a power supply is starting to fail and does not provide the proper voltages for the microprocessor.

SOURCE: touchpad not scrolling
You, someone/something else may have disabled it unexpectedly and/or unintentionally; like what happened to me :(
Solution:
- Go to Task Manager
- Go to Mouse settings and Enable "Virtual Scroll" <-- (May be called something different depending on the OS too)
Hope I helped

The Dell touchpad settings can be accessed in Vista by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse. If the box that appears when you open the mouse properties doesn't say anything about dell then you need to install the driver for the touchpad. To do this go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen and then click "Enter a Tag", then enter your service tag, which can be found on the underside of your computer, into the box and click "Go". After selecting the operating system that is running on the machine click the little + icon next to "Imput Device Drivers" and once that expands download and install the one that says "Dell - Driver Applies to Touchpad / Pointing Stick". Once it is installed the computer may need to restart.
