When the washing machine reaches it's spin cycle it shakes violently making a loud thuddering noise. the machine is less than 3 years old but has been standing out of use for 18 months until we have just moved it into my mum's kitchen to be used again.
Several points.
did you put in transit bolts for move and forget to remove them?
is machine sitting square on all four legs?
is it sitting on a suspended floor? if joist spacing is wide, then this can result in vibration.

hi robyn. A washer making a loud noise during spin cycle can also be caused by a faulty drive pulley. The pulley is what the belt (if applicable to yourwasher) rides on to spin your washers tub. The pulley can be made of plastic or metal. It could be simply worn out or just loose.27 Jul 2015
If your washing machine shakes violently or if there's a loud thumping noise during the spin cycle, the load of clothes has probably gotten unbalanced. Open the lid, redistribute the clothes in the washer, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
Is it just during the spin cycle that it machine is noisy or the noise is less during the wash cycle? Also is the noise a thumping type of noise or is it more of a whining or steady noise? If is a whining noise, it probally means that water has seeped past the seal and corroded the bearing of the washer. The noise is the failing bearing.
Hello,
It sounds like the bearings are starting to go.The problem is as it is 6 years old the repair job could be expensive, unless you have an extended warranty. It still might be worth getting a quote off one of your local repair dealerships.
Hope this helps.
There are 2 shock absorbers/springs attached to the drum. If one of them breaks it will cause a loud banging noise when you wash heavy loads. This is an easy fix. The part is about $22.00 and it is accessed throught the front bottom panel.
