Try reloading the firmware, its available on the Magellan website.
You may need some of the back door commands. There is wonderful trouble shooting information at www.mtgc.org/robertlipe/MeridianFAQ/ start reading about page 12. If you need to reload the master maps, they are on your MapSend Streets disk. With the laters firmware update I can use a 1GB SD card but I have not been able to get a 2 GB card to work.

Magellan no longer supports this device, so contacting them is a waste of time, they are rude, stupid, and won't tell you anything even if they know it.

My Garmin will not power up. We have hooked it up to the usb cable to our computer and it still does not come on

try entering maintenance mode~~

In order to reset Garmin device or enter into maintenance mode, perform one of the following procedures:

Power off Garmin unit. Press on continuously the upper top left corner of screen and then power on the unit by pressing once on the Power button. You should be prompted to clear all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press "Yes" to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

Hack above works on Garmin Nuvi 660, 680 series.

Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press "Yes" to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

Try this. You'll lose all your favorites and anything else you have entered though.

The display is not appearing. I can hear it come

The Garmin fitness models are unreliable. Problems like this are common. The Motion Based forum will provide help. If a hard reset does not work you'll have to phone Garmin. I found this post regarding the Hard Reset:

"With the unit powered off hold down mode, continue to hold down mode while pressing power. Then let go of both buttons. You will be asked "Do you really want to erase all user data?" Select yes

If that doesn't work there is another "unprompted" hard reset that will clear all data immediately without asking. It's not easy to do, so you might have to try it several times before it works.

Hold down enter and mode while pressing power (don't hold down the power button, just press it quickly) Keep holding down enter and mode for a few more seconds. You will then see the "select language" screen and the rest of the initial setup screens."

This is the boot screen, Remove the power connection, and reinsert while you press the "Cancel" button at the same time, if done correctly, your Roadmate should continue to boot and enter the user mode.

Might try a warm reset. Unscrew the plastic top of the stylis. and push it into the reset hole in the back of the unit, remone it from the reset hole, then turn unit back on.

Magellan 315

That unit does not have a touch screen so holding the screen while powering up wont do anything. I'm not sure which key it is on that model, but to do a reset you hold down one of the keys while powering up. Try holding down the enter key while you power up. If that doesn't work, try again with the other keys until you find it. If it doesn't reset, you may have a dead keypad.

StreetPilot c 340 does not allow to enter address

Ok, you've tried a reset, but have you tried a Master Reset? Doing this WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES, but it may help. Turn the unit off. Press the "On" button with your finger on the bottom right of the screen at the same time. Release the "On" button, but keep pressing the screen until the unit asks if you're sure you want to reset all data. Press "Yes". See if this helps.
