My Crosley CR40 makes a humming noise whenever it begins to spin on its own. It sounds like a cat purring. Note: this product is brand new.

SOURCE: Crosley traveler turntable noise

Hello attaboy. You may need to check you ac cord if the noise is in turntable, radio, & cassettte mod. If it has a 3 prong plug than you are missing a GND connection, in the cord or inside the unit. If it has a 2 prong plug than take it back or open it up and replace filter capacitors or bridge rectifiers in units power supply.

SOURCE: Hi. I have a Crosley CR40

It sounds like you have too much pressure on the tone arm. Check the underside for springs. You might be able to remedy the problem the old fashioned way. Tape a coin onto the top of the tone arm, as far to the rear as possible. This will eliminate some of the downward pressure onto the record.

Our crosley washing machine (model # cfw50000fw1) will not spin

Hello - Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose/pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned, or you have another issue with the door lock assembly or the timer and control board not communicating correctly.

I have purchased a Crosley cr40 mini turntable which has a american ac adpater. I bought a universal adaptor and my record player started spinning but a small plume of smoke started coming from the plug...

It could be the adapter is just faulty, but you can't tell to you get power to the unit if any part has failed inside (most liklely the transformer if it has).
I found this step-down adapter on amazon which should do the trick, not expensive either.
