Question about RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310 Smartphone

Memo on blackberry 8310

I originally had a 8700c blackberry and I created memos on it, when I used my desktop manager when I rec'd my new 8310, the memos came over. And I can edit them, but I'd like to know how to create new ones.

On 8310 the MemoPad may be located in the Applications folder on your Desktop. If you can not locate it, you should download and install the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager software from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=DA5FB46338C8C0DCB1039F7898184FC5

Once installed, connect your BlackBerry to your computer via the USB sync cable. Open Desktop Manager, and click the Application Loader. On the right, you will see Update your device software. Click the Start Button, and if your BlackBerry is not on the latest Handheld Software, an update will appear. Select the update, and run the install. Be sure to select the option that backs up and restores your data. Once started, do not shut down your computer, or disconnect the USB sync cable as this could damage the device.

Once completed, your BlackBerry will restart and you will have the latest version available. This version has been known to correct various issues.

If or when you get a JVM Error 102/Reset message, do the following:
1. Connect your BB to the computer.
2. Run JL_Cmder
3. Choose option 5, wipe the device. This will delete all files - OS and data - from your BB. The BB screen will show JVM Error 507. This means the BB has no files installed.
4. Using Desktop Manager, reinstall your software. When you run the Application Loader, check all the available boxes.
5. When this process completes, restore your most recent backup file.
You should be back to normal, with the exception of having to reregister OTA or other 3rd party apps. Save their reg numbers in your Memo app so that you have them handy.

I have an entry in the memo feature of my palm. Everytime I try to access the information the palm goes black and reboots? What causes this to happen and how can I retrieve the information?


When a Palm OS device reboots like that, it shows that there is a driver conflict. Somewhere along the line some software that was installed is conflicting with other software on the device and causes the reset. I would suggest deleting applications from the device one by one and testing after each to see if the reset is still happening. If you are using the Palm Desktop software that came with the device and performed a Sync (backup) after you created the Memo... it should be saved and accessible in the Desktop software (Memo tab). If no Sync was performed after creating the Memo, you will need to remove applications one at a time until the software conflict is removed allowing you to run your device without the constant reboots. It's a bit of a tedious process, but the only solution if you didn't back up the device after creating the memo you are trying to retrieve.

Problem when I sync blackberry curve with desktop via USB


Open your desktop manager, and select the functions you want to Sync, I would start with out the memopad and see if it syncs, if not then dont sync tasks and see if that fixes the issue...

I've had a few clients with this issue. I have used these steps from RIM. Try it and see if it helps.

Here’s what you need to do:
1. Uninstall Desktop Manager
2. Remove any references on your registry and on your C drive program files and users to:
a. Blackberry
b. Pumatech
c. Research in Motion
d. RIM
e. Desktop Manager
3. Disable the UAC (User Accounts) on Control Panel-Users
4. Get a command prompt and type regsvr32 atl.dll (enter)
5. Reboot
6. Make sure that when you re-install you have absolutely no SpyBot, Virus, Spam guard or the like running.
7. Reinstall Desktop Manager (version 4.2 SP2)
8. If you get an “Error 1904….Lotus Notes…” Ignore it
9. After you do all this, it should work

Dictate memo


Absolutely. You can create a voice memo for about 15 minutes. Want more time, just leave the recorder going and it will create a new spot and just keep going.

There is an excellent, free MemoPad-type program for the BlackBerry called BBNotePad. It allows you to store text files on the device memory or a micro SD/SDHC memory card. You can download it from the following web site:

To get rid of the unknown error, you will need to uninstall the Blackberry Desktop software. When you do this, make sure that you have the uninstaller delete the user settings, too. Then reinstall Desktop Manager 4.3. See if that helps with the syncing, too. This solution solved the error problem for me, so I hope it will work for you.

If this does not solve the syncing problem, then post back here again and we'll look for another solution. Sometimes a .pst file repair will help.

Blackberry Pearl missing apps?


I accidentally deleted memo and task. I went to the blackberry site and downloaded the updated desktop manager software. After it was installed, I went to "backup" tab and it gave me the option of selecting those programs and I got them back:). Hope this works for you!
