Does not use magenta cart. New cart. entered still no color--only

All of a sudden I stopped getting any "red" coloring on my printouts. I have put in 2 new cartridges --still will print only black, yellow, and blue. I get two rows of yellow --no magenta hues.

I don't have any idea how to correct this problem. Hate the idea of having to carry printer in to shop. So, your answer was informational, but still needing to know how to fix the problem.
    Thanks

Hello,

If you have tried 2 seperate Carts, and neither have worked, I would say that the problem lies in the printer. You can try cleaning the contacts where the cartridge makes it's connection. The easiest way to do this, is with a pencil eraser, simply rub the eraser on the metal pins that connect the cartridge. Depending on the orientation of these pins, you probably want to use an up and down motion, as side to side may fold some of the pins over. If this does not correct the problem, then you have the option of getting the printer serviced, or looking at purchasing a new printer. It has been my experience, that any money put towards repairing a printer is actually better spent towards a replacement, as printers often cost almost as much to repair as they do to replace.

This is going to sound a little condesending, however I have made this mistake many times, please make sure you that you are pulling the seal off of the cartridge before you insert it. Should be a piece of tape across the print head of the cartridge (this is only needed if it is a new cartridge. If the 2 cartridges you have tried are refills, then I Would suggest trying a brand new cartridge.

Its quite possible that the cable supporting the carriasge of magenta has got slightly cut in between so the cartrige not printing as the connection not getting completed so its still not printing with new cartridge also.its white colour cable which moves with cartridge carriage.will cost you new at $2 dollars to replace.

this will help you more further procedure

To remove the head and clean would require a near disassembly of printer.

in short, open the lid as if to replace ink, unclip the bottom of the lid leg and swing open. leave ink in.

remove 4 screws and remove plastic clips to wires. disconnect wires there are 4 or 5 in total. now carefully unhook the lid from main unit, take your time.

    after separating 2 parts.

unclip plastic cover on head, remove print head cable wire from head,(
this is what you have to check out specially for magenta) unclip silver clip that hold ink hoses,
undo top (in relation to head) slide bar, carefully remove head..
lift from no bar side first.

soak under very warm water for a few minutes and get old ink out
of the clear chambers. keep going, enough?? do it again!
    now... reassemble.

if you removed the ink tanks.. you now have a mess on the bottom of your printer, clean that before reassembly. Reverse all the above and
the clock will have passed at least 1 hour if not 1.5 hours.

if bulk ink is the cause of clogging, there maybe
some design failure of sorts since ink has to be drawn upwards,
if there is a gap or leak.. air gets in

    thanks.

Yellow is missing in printouts, and the color is heavily purple, even after putting in new red cartridge and doing a deep clean

Yellow cartridge is clogged or bad. If yellow is not being out put then it will throw the other colors off. You could print a yellow, light blue, magenta (pinkish) , and black squares using MS paint or other paint program. This will narrow down which cartridge has a problem.

LED Head Missing, Color:Magenta

Take out the magenta cartridge to the right upper indside wall of the printer you should be able to see a small rectangular window, give it a blow of wipe with a cloth, do the same to the corresponding part of the m toner, put the drum and toner back, shut the lid and everything should be ok. If not contact oki for a replacement drum/cart.

I suggest that if your machine is under warranty you call out HP, as I have heard that they don't support these machines with parts therefore you will get a new machine.

Color problem

Chances are your othe cartridges were low...

When you install a new cartridge your printer does a head cleaning, and it uses alot of ink...

If the others were low, your printouts will show magenta as its the only color left...

Ink color problem

What are you doing exactly?
First you must have all carts in place for any printer to operate.
Say exactky here what it is you are trying to do and through which program?

First, wouldn't print black, now won't print magenta- all new cartridges!

Unplug machinepowercord. Open printer and take all carts out. Plug in power. Machine demands carts. Put new one in: Replace with original ink carts!. When asked push 1 (yes New cart). If you have used thirdparty carts, there could be a prob due to construticon or ink quality. In case there is no bk after 3x cleaning cycles anymore, the head is clogged: This happens because the filter in front of the nozzels is clogged by pigmented ink. DO USE ONLY DYE INK for all types of brother inkjet machines!!!
