Water supply is fine and dispenses water fine along with making ice. It will not dispense ice. Dispensing door opens.

  • medic48911 Jan 23, 2009

Ice maker works fine it just does not dispense the ice out of the bin.

  • medic48911 Jan 23, 2009

The dispensing shoot is clear and the ice bin is not frozen up. Have removed all of the old ice and ice maker filled with new ice.

  • medic48911 Jan 23, 2009

There is not a water suplly problem. The water dispensor works fine and the ice maker works fine. It just does not dispense the ice it has made. I was told the the dispensing motor had a short in it and that was what cause the dispening light to flash and the freezer blower motor to quit when you pressed the level to dispense the ice. Replace the motor but still will not dispense the ice out of the bin.

A. Check for ice in the bin, if no ice, check the ice making system.
If the ice making system is normal, the demand for ice may exceed the quantity the icemaker can produce.
Check with the user on ice usage: advise the user that another machine may be needed.
B. Check for motion in the agitator when the glass filler lever is pushed, if no motion: Check the vend
switch, if it does not close when the glass filler lever is pushed, replace the switch.
If the vend switch does close, check for voltage at the agitator drive motor. If there is voltage, and the
agitator motor output shaft does not turn, replace the agitator gear motor assembly.
C. Check that the ice dispensing door opens when the glass filler lever is pushed. If not, check the
vend switch. If the vend switch is good, check the door solenoid.
If the agitator moves when it is supposed to, and there is ice, the dispensing cycle should be fine.
is dispensed, check for an obstruction in the ice chute.
D. No portion control.
1. Continuous dispensing when the glass filler lever is pushed in: Check for an open potentiometer (portion
control). If open, replace it.
If it is not open, replace the portion control module in the control box.
2. Very short dispensing: Check for a shorted potentiometer (portion control). If shorted, replace it.
If it is not shorted, replace the portion control module in the control box.

I had this same problem last week with mine.
You have a short in the door switch located at the bottom of the freezer
or the the switch behind the ice bucket.I replaced both on mine,
But it was only the one for the door in my case.

Medic48911,
Sometimes ice makers malfunction, this is because; -the water inlet valve strainer that feeds water to the ice maker becomes clogged.

In this event you can try to correct this problem, Follow the outlined steps below;

  • First thing to do is unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet for safety reason.
  • Then disconnect the water supply.
  • Remove the water line where it enters the valve (usually at the bottom edge of the unit).
  • Locate the wire strainer and remove it.
  • Clean the strainer with a stiff brush, using mild household detergent.
  • After the this steps are taken, re-assemble the component in reverse fashion.

Hi

Kindly check it could be because of following reasons :

  • Freezer may not be cold enough.
Temperature must be 5 degrees (Fahrenheit) or colder to work properly.
  • Normal ice making capacity.
The ice maker will produce between 2.5 to 4.0 pounds of ice a day depending on your model. Side-by-side models come with a large ice bucket and it may take up to three days to fill this container.
  • Water supply valve may not be completely open.
    Open valve completely.
  • Water supply valve may be blocked by foreign material or may not be large enough.
Supply valve must have a 1/4" opening for water to fully supply ice maker. Many self-piercing valves do not have this big of an opening. Replace water supply valve with one that has a 1/4" opening.
  • Water filter may need changing.
If equipped with a water filter, replace filter canister or cartridge.
Please feel free to contact for further assistance

    Thanks

Also you should check if the fill tube is frozen. If the water valve fails under pressure, water droplets coming through the fill tube will freeze the tube solid, blocking the supply water from getting to the freezer.

have the model 20, 22, 24 and I had the same problem. The water dispenser stopped working. But I heard something when I tried to dispense water like it was trying.

I took everything out of the freezer and turned it off. Then I took a heat gun and gingerly used it so it didn't get to hot. Hair dryer would work too. It freed right up and is working fine. I hope I don't have this problem again soon.

Why won't ice dispense from ice maker?

Pull out the ice storage bin from the refrigerator. Empty the bin if it is full. Add some ice into the bin. Reinstall bin into refrigerator. Make sure the refrigerator door(s) are closed. The ice will not dispense if the door(s) are open. Press the ice dispenser with a glass underneath it to start dispensing ice. Listen for a whirring sound. If there is a sound, then the auger that moves the ice cubes is working. Check the ice shoot in the door to see if it is blocked with ice. If you don't here any whirring sound the motor that runs the auger is probably bad. Then you will have to replace the whole ice maker assembly.

Our Kenmore side by side refrigerator ice maker makes ice but when we press the ice dispenser lever there is no sound and no ice comes out.

If your refrigerator has an ice dispenser, you are probably used to getting ice right away when a lever or button is pressed. However, if you depress the ice maker button and nothing dispenses, there is an issue with your refrigerator. There are a few different reasons why an ice dispenser would suddenly not work. It is important to troubleshoot your refrigerator first to determine the problem. Some problems can be fixed at home, while others must be repaired by a professional

1 Remove the ice bin from the freezer and press the button on the front of the refrigerator for cubed ice.
2 Open the freezer door and hold down the switch on the door, which "tricks" the freezer into thinking the door is closed, and push the lever or button to dispense ice. The motor behind the ice bin should turn. If it does not, this means the motor is frozen.

3 Remove the motor, following the directions in your refrigerator's manual. Heat and dry out the motor with a hairdryer until the motor turns again, then reinstall the motor according to the manufacturer's directions.

    Ice Bin or Chute
1 Remove the ice bin to see if it is overloaded. Ice bins that are too full can cause new ice being produced to back up and cause blockage. If this is the case, dump out the ice and rinse out the ice bin with hot water until any blockage is melted.

2 Examine the separator that divides the ice storage bin from the ice dispenser for holes. If the separator has a hole or is cracked, it must be replaced.

3 Watch the flap on the ice dispenser as you hold down the door switch and simultaneously press the button to dispense ice. If the flap does not close all the way, check for ice blockage and gently remove it. If there is no blockage, the flap will need to be replaced.

    Hope this tips would help.

    Have a nice day!

Ice guide seems to be broken, how can i remove the cover to access on mod. ed22tqxfnoo.. what will it take to replace it ?? t

I have a Whirlpool side-side freezer-refrigerator model ED22TQXFNOO. When I try to use the ice dispenser in the door. nothing happens. No noise as if the motor is turning the spiral gear to push the ice to the end of the storage bin so the ice will drop in the shute to be dispensed. I cleaned out the storage bin for any build up of frozen chucks of ice. The storage bin is all the way in. There's plenty of ice, but it won't dispense.
    (1) Is there a Micro switch in the lever I push to signal the motor to turn?
    (2) What inergizes the switch in the back that lifts the bar to let the ice fall into the ice dispenser?

Hooked up water, which dispenses invariably, but ice won't dispen

Remove the ice bin , and behind it , on the rear wall ,use a screwdriver for leverage , between the dispensor " arms " , to see if the arms turn the motor fairly freely and not jammed . If it seems jammed , use a hair dryer aimed at the center of the arms to heat up the motor shaft to melt any ice possibly freezing it . No disassembly required .
If the arms turn fairly freely ( not jammed ) , then the main control board behind the refrig , is the problem .

We have parts for GE as well as mots other major brands, so please give us a call with your complete model number and we will get your parts out to you right away!

We hope this solves your problem and we look forward to being able to assist you with future issues.

    Ice maker not dispensing ice

If the dispensor light switches to cubed or crushed , the panel is good . Remove the ice bin , and hold the light switch in . Press the arm for CRUSHED ice , and if you hear a buzzing or hum , then the auger motor is frozen . Use a hair dryer directly on the " forks " for a while , ocasionally holding switch and activating arm , until the forks move . Lower the freezer temp slightly and reinstall the ice bin .

Hotpoint fridge dispenser works on water but not ice

If the little green lites show up , you do not need a circuit board . If you get a hum or buzzing noise when pushing for CRUSHED ice , then the auger motor is frozen up . Remove the ice bin and use a hair dryer directly on the forks which turn the dispensor . The heat will transfer into the motor , defrosting the armature . Try closing the freezer door ocassionally and pushing the arm to test if forks turn .

Ice maker works on Kenmore side-by-side but will not dispense

If there is ice in the bin and you hear the auger motor running when depressing switch then the auger is broke or the ice bin is busted , pull the bin out and empty it and de ice it to inspect for cracks. you can also turn the auger/fork in the freezer and it should turn the motor and have some resistance when turning. let me know if you have any other questions.

GSS23LSTA SS WILL NOT DISPENSE ICE OR WATER

Open freezer door, pull out the ice bin, push and hold the door switch, and push on the ice dispenser pad / lever. The U shaped auger drive should turn at the back of the freezer behind where the ice bin was. I suspect it is not turning. If this is the case, you have a frozen auger motor. Just thawing it out will not permanently solve the problem, it must be replaced and a " boot " installed over it. It is important to know the exact full model and serial number, as there are several motors to fit various models.

    No ice at dispensor

can you hear a motor running or making some noise inside the ice bin compartment as you press the dispenser switch?

if no noise, then there could be a peoblem in your micro switch at the dispenser or the motor that would bring the ice to the front.

if there is noise then look at the ice inside the bin, it could be all attached as a one big chunk that is why the sweeper is just sliding on the ice. it should be loose so the the sweeper could bring then to the front to come out of the chute.

i hope i was able to fix...

    cheers,
