Question about Lexmark X5470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Have a lexmark x5470, i plugged into usb port ,computer recognize

New hardware and to steps appear to be in order to download but either plug and play or have disc will not acknowledge printer. on the list of the manufacturer i highlighted lexmark and they did not list 5470 so i assumed the 5400 series would all be the same so i highlighted that it still will not acknowledge the printer. i have installed and uninstalled and tried to install but no luck.

Scanner stating cannot retrive application list for my lexmark x5470

I cannot use the scan function on my X5470--specifically, to scan documents into PDF format. "Cannot retrieve Application List" is the messge shown. How do I repair this function?


Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The software allows you to scan your documents to PDF file. The software is only available on the installation disc that came with your Lexmark printer. If you don't have the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

How can I install my Lexmark X5470 Printer without the disk?


Turn computer off. Plug printer into computer and start computer back up. Found new hardware should come up on the screen. Then follow the hardware connection wizard. Should be able to detect from the
drop down list. And your operation system will install the printer. If not, you can still go the Lexmark website and download the drivers.

My printer does not want to print


Go to the control panel and remove the printer from the Printers option. Shut down the computer. Plug the printer cable into another USB port and restart the computer. When 'New Hardware Found' appears, follow the directions. You may have to install the software that came with the printer during this process.

The printer will not communicate with my computer


With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue
